Revamp the Forums
Started By
Over a year ago, I suggested this. I want to bring this up again.
The forums REALLY need to be revamped. Like, seriously. They've been here, like this, ever since I joined over three years ago. Within my years of playing Ala, the forums have never been super active, never had any updates from what I can see. All I'm suggesting is just a simple rework.
Some things that could possibly be added:

- When reporting a post, it asks for a reason. This can also help with accidental reports.
- The forum replies are ordered from oldest to newest like on every other forum (if you like it how it is now, perhaps there can be a setting to toggle it ?).
- Disable response alerts completely.
- Boards to be more organized. People can post on boards with sub-boards...perhaps you can lock them so mods don't have to move them ? Perhaps change how topic listing works ?
- A 'quote message' option to make replying easier.

I would not even mind using a forum hosted by phpBB or XenForo or something.
Feel free to share your ideas.

I support this in every way. I hate the forum setup here, especially the way responses are organized. I've never been on another forum where I have to go to the last page and read from bottom to top to get context for replies!

Support, I think if they were revamped, it would become more active

Love this.
Love the report messages with a purpose. With my ps3 it has all the basic rules set as options. Report player or message for: inappropriate content, Vulgarity, cheating in game, other (leave message why) Ect- I would love to see that here.

@MamasMoths -
The quote message makes it easier to reply to messages...you take a post, and pretty much embed it into your post, and it's easier to show what you're replying to.
For disabling response alerts completely, I meant to be able to toggle alerts for threads you've already made. Could have probably worded that better, aha.

Hello,
I love the idea of the reporting posts with reasoning. ^^
I also love the idea of the order change. That confused me for the longest time. xD
The idea of the boards is a pretty good idea as well. I must say, I must say.
A 'quote message' sounds a little odd, in my opinion, but I like odd things. Still sounds pretty nice.
The only thing I had even the slightest problem with was the "Disable response alerts completely." Like with the order, you should be able to enable and disable that. Some people are like me, and seriously pay no attention to anything around them, so I (personally) prefer the response alerts. But, as said previously, I like the idea of toggling them.
Overall, I agree with the fact that the Forums need a change. So, I pretty fully support this! ^^
-MM-

@Hrper -
That's why I suggested forum hosters above, so the programmers don't have to deal with programming a new forum, but just have a nicer, cleaner forum for a while yet.

Maybe eventually this could be implemented, but atm Ala has plenty of bigger issues aha

Forums aren't really a big part of the game anyway, but I guess you could argue that that's because of the organization.

So I guess what I'm saying is that I support this for a later date, once - or if - Ala gets back on its feet.

@Leafdapple -
Added something in the OP since I just noticed this, aha.
Pretty sure CS is vBulletin or phpBB, not exactly sure. I do like those forums, though.

I agree completely support this:)

Full support for this!
I don't even use the forums anymore because I end up looking at posts that are super old and not even in use anymore. It's really confusing to use and navigate through.

I totally support this, the forums could definitely use a revamp. Something similar to ChickenSmoothie wouldn't be a bad thing to model after, they have very organized forums.
