CHAPTER 1:

The beginning...and the end?

Graykit mewled to his mother, "I'm going to become an apprentice today!" His mother, Hollytail, hushed him and meowed "I know, stay calm, I'm trying to groom you for your ceremony." Graykit squirmed as he heard his leader call, "May all cats old enough to catch there own prey join underneath the highrock for a clan meeting." Graykit lept up and meowed "I'm clean enough!" He raced out of the den and raced to his ceremony. "By the powers of Starclan I give you your apprentice name, Graypaw! Your mentor will be your own mother, Hollytail." Graypaw meowed and surprised, His mother would be his mentor! "Come on lets go out and into the forest." Hollytail meowed to Graypaw. Little did he know it would be his first, and last, adventure into the forest.

CHAPTER 2:

Death...So young!

Graypaw walked alongside his mentor as she meowed "Let me show you the Thunderpath." Hollytail and Graypaw turned on a twisting trail. The black thunderpath came into sight. It was long and never ending, yet something seemed peculiar about it. Graypaw got excited. He raced forward, never knowing he should watch out for monsters. A roar shook the road and rang in his ears. A monster's eyes glared at him with blinding light. Graypaw whipped around and screamed "Mom!" but it was too late. The monster hit Graypaw like a load of weights, snapping his neck. Hollytail screamed as his last word echoed in her head. To Graypaw, his whole world turned and swirled. Graypaw saw a flash of white, and suddenly he was back in a forest clearing again, although, this wasn't any ordinary clearing. Ghostly cats of the past stood around him, They whispered, Stars glittered on their pelts. They murmered "You were so young, not meant to die. This is your new home now. Welcome to Starclan." Now what was he going to do! What about his mother! What's Happening back at camp! What is Starclan! Who are these ghostly cats! Find out in the next chapter!

CHAPTER 3:

Where am I! What am I doing here!

Graypaw scanned the clearing, looking from cat to cat "This isn't the forest! Who are you! What is Starclan! WHERE AM I!"
"Hush little one," A very noble looking she-cat stepped forward. "I am Silverstar, I ruled a clan back in my day, long before your time."
"How...How long?" Graypaw whispered.
"3 generations before your time." She murmered, compassion in her eyes. "You died in an accident with a monster."
Graypaw was stunned. The roar and blinding light was a monster. In the nursery he was told stories that they would come, fast as lightning, and kill any prey that walked onto the thunderpath, but very rarely veered off the path.
"A...a...a monster!" He mewled weakly.
"Don't be afraid, it has happened to cats before your time." Silverstar murmered.
A thought hit Graypaw like a brick "I never will get to be a warrior! My mom!"
He burst out into tears! "There must be a way back!" He burst out into a run, his scrawny legs carried him over a peaceful meadow, with shade trees and a perfect temperature. He kept running. The forest must be somewhere!
Silverstar's long legs let her catch up with him. "Stop Graypaw."
"How do you know my name!" He demanded.
"Everyone in Starclan does. You cannot go back to the forest, there is no way out. Don't be afraid. You can communicate with your mother through her dreams."
"Really..." Graypaw meowed, unsure.
"Really!" Silverstar meowed happily.
"Well can you give me a grand tour of this, Starclan?"
"Sure!" Silverstar meowed.
So what will Starclan look like? Find out in Chapter 4!

CHAPTER 4:

Starclan...Beautiful...

Graypaw's long whispy fur rippled in the breezy wind. Starclan was very pretty, everything seemed so much....better. There was no dead grass or leaves, no imperfection. Everything seemed so lush. "Follow me, I am going to show you where a main clearing is." Silverstar bounded forward. Graypaw on her heels. The sky above them was deep and blue, a very good day. Fluffy clouds floated gently overhead, the sun shone. They reached an opening in the long grasses which they were in, and it opened up into a giant clearing. It was made of trampled earth, with flowers of many colors around the edges. In the far left corner, a stream trickled through the ground, it shone in the sun and was clear as can be, beautiful stones were at the bottom and silver fish swam throuh it, perfect for fishing, "This is beautiful, What else is there?" Graypaw meowed. Find out in Chapter 5, More beauty, and terror, lie ahead.

Chapter 5:

Berrytail! Finally I know someone!

Silverstar meowed "Lets go see more of Starclan."
Graypaw purred "Okay, lead the way."
Silverstar padded slowly forwars, her paws made a soft plopping noise on the ground, she was in no rush.
Graypaw stared at everything around him, he was trying to absorb all the information and beauty around him. He soon noticed, as he left the clearing he came out into a forest of old trees, fully bloomed in Greenleaf. The bark seemed ancient, yet new, the trees were full of life. Silverstar's starry fur glowed silver in the sunlight. She had a happy aura about her. Her light blue eyes glowed happily. She turned right, onto a worn trail and a small clearing came into view. Purple tiny flowers surrounded the clearing and grew upwards onto the trees. Silverstar walked up to a light orange cat with white splothes, his green eyes turned on her. "Hello Silverstar." He meowed.
"Hello Berrytail, I brought a new member of Starclan to come and see you."
Graypaw walked out from behind Silverstar.
"Graykit!" Berrytail exclaimed.
"It's Graypaw now, I died in an acident with a monster, I remember you, very faintly though." Graypaw meowed.
Berrytail laughed, "Of course you do, I was the medicine cat that helped bring you into the world." Berrytail said, amused. "I died soon after, I had walked on a death berry in the woods, got juice all over the bottom of my paw and when I went to clean my paw, I got sick, Fatally sick, and I didnt make it."
Graypaw meowed "Thats too bad..."
Silverstar meowed, "We have to go Berrytail."
Berrytail nodded.
"Goodbye." Graypaw meowed.
As they turned away Silverstar meowed "I have something to show you Graypaw, something terrible."

CHAPTER 6:

The terror begins!

Silverstar took off. She brok out into a run, Graypaw streaking behind her. "Keep up!" She meowed over her furry silver shoulder. Graypaw ran as fast as he could. He stared at the ground as he ran.....something was....wrong.
As he sprinted onward the grass grew into a tan, then into a brown...then a grayish black. The plants started to wither and die, the sky grew cloudy and into a stormish, green color. A drizzle started to trickle out of the sky. Silverstar leaped over a boulder, Graypaw scrambled over the top. On the other side Silverstar was waiting for him.
Graypaw gasped.
Silverstar's expression was grave. Her blue eyes no longer shone the happiness they did.
Just beyond her, to the left, was a long wall of pitch black whispyness.
Silverstar meowed "This is the wall of that leads to the dark forest."
Blue and purple whisps of smoke came out of the wall then faded away at the touch of Starclan air.
Graypaw whimpered "The...D-Dark...Forest!"
He had heard stories about the forest when he was a kit.
"It is where all the evil cats go, such as the evil Nightthorn and Ripfur."
"NIGHTTHORN AND RIPFUR!" Graypaw cried. He had heard horrible stories when he was a kit, they would trample through the forest, bloodthirsty and killers.
Silverstar meowed. "Yes... and more bloodthirsty cats....some worse than them."
Graypaw squealed and covered his ears.
Silverstar meowed "I have to go now, meet you back at camp."
Graypaw didn't hear her "Wait!" He called.
Silverstar didn't here is plea for her to wait. She was already long gone.
Graypaw was all alone, next to this dark thing.
Now what do I do! He thought in Panic!

CHAPTER 7:

The void...the wall...the misery...the hopelessness.

Graypaw shook in panic. He hated the feeling of this dark wall.
Suddenly a snake slithered through the dead gray grass.
Graypaw jumped back in suprise.
He hit a rock.
He tripped, flailng his paws through the air.
Such horror struck his mind as a black void engulfed him.
He fell still, he felt tortured as he fell through the void.
He had fallen into the Dark wall.
Into the dark forest.
Into terror.
Into an adventure...

CHAPTER 8:

WHAT KIND OF PLACE IS THIS!

Graypaw landed with a thud on the hard ground of the dark forest. He peered around...
"Shoot!" He meowed in panic.
He peered around at the forest beyond.
The forest was dim. Blue-green vines curled around trees like snakes. The bark was black. He could smell cats, but could not see them. Mold grew on the forest floor. Blue poisoness toadstools grew near trees. Dead black leaves were spread on the ground. And occasionly...he thought he could see...
drops of blood...
They were spattered on the ground.
"Help!" He cried.

CHAPTER 9:

Oh.
My.
Gosh...It cant...
It is...
Ripfur!

Graypaw looked around. "Help!" He repeated.
A dark cat stepped out of the bushes in front of him.
His fur was ripped, scarred, and a dark brown.
Where fur was missing, there was blood, but no wounds...other cats blood!
"Let me intoduce myself, I am Ripfur."
RIPFUR!
The cat he had heard in nightmarish nursery tales was standing in front of him.
It was the cat.
The terrible one.
The bloodthirsty one.
He growled, baring sharp yellow teeth,
"You do not belong here!"

CHAPTER 10:

Oh, what joy! His accomplice shows up!
So demanding, those two!

Nightthorn meowed
"Cool it Ripfur!"
Her long razor-sharp thorn like claws wre very distinct.
"Who do we have here?" She snickered.
"A STARCLAN cat!" Ripfur spat.
"Let's take him to see the rest of the clan."
Each grabbed one of Graypaw's shulder.
"HEY! Let me go! Just take me back! LET ME GO! Your hurting me! OUCH! Quit biting my shoulder! LET GO!"
Ripfur dropped Graypaw in front of his nose.
"Listen up! You will not complain, not cry, always follow my orders, and will recieve NO help here whatsoever. Deal with it."
Graypaw trembled. He held back tears. His insides churned with fear, anger, and sadness. He wanted to screm for help. He was a hostage being taken to a deadly camp filled with bloodthirsty killers of cats.
What was going to happen to him now?
He was in the paws and in complete control of 2 very evil, fatal, cats.
And there was nothing he could do about it.

CHAPTER 11:

The worst cat that ever lived.
Literally.

Nightthorn and Ripfur grabbed each of one of Graypaw's shoulder. Graypaw struggled against there hold. Ripfur let go as they reached the camp. Nightthorn dragged Graypaw the rest of the way in. The camp was dark, overshadowing trees hung over the camp. Barbs and Poisoness mushrooms scattered the border of the clearing. The dusty ground was trodden down. A tense feeling hund in the air. Nightthorn and Ripfur called for their leader.
A cat came from the far edge of the clearing.
He had an evil look on his face.
He was huge.
He had ripped up fur and tons of scars.
His amber eyes glowed like dark fires.
He put one paw in front of the other, It was huge, tufts of dark tabby fur stuck out. He had sharp thorn-like claws.
Then he showed his face, a scar over on eye.
"My name is Darkstar."
It was the evilist, most terrifying, huge, intimidating cat Graypaw had ever seen.
And Darkstar was talking to him!

CHAPTER 12:

Dream! Dream! Oh gosh, please work!

Graypaw flattened himself to the ground.
M-my- na-name isss Graypaw." He managed to say through his stammers of fear. He just wanted to go back home, to Starclan, or to the forest. He really didn't care.
Darkstar looked at him, prodded him with an enormous paw and said, "I practically scared him to death, what a compliment!"
Graypaw backed up a step.
"Hey kid!" Darkstar meowed
Graypaw let out a high pitched "What?"
"Get some rest."
"Okay."
He ran to the farthest edge of the clearing, he scrunged up some dead moss to lay on.
He was going to try and communicate through his dreams to his mother, Hollytail, just like Silverstar had promised.
And he was going to try and communicate with Silverstar, if he couldn't get her he would try Berrytail, the cat he had met in Starclan's clearing.
He squeezed his eyes shut, determined to dream.

Chapter 13:

Reunited...kind of.

Blackness crashed over him in waves. White fog then covered his mind.
Hollytail!
A cat was sitting in a field, his mother! Her light golden fur fluffed in the breeze, her blue eyes shone...
They were...distant...
"Mom!"
Graypaw floundered over to her.
"Graypaw!" She yelped. Her eyes lit up.
"You gotta help me! I was accidentally trapped in the dark forest!"
...
Silence.
...
Waves of emotions flickered across her face.
Shocked.
Distress.
Depressesion.
Sadness.
Horror.
Determination.
Sadness...again.

...Silence...
Awkward....
Tense.

then................

She sighed.
"I...can't."

CHAPTER 14:

What do you mean "I can't."

"Well...why can't you?"
Graypaw asked.
Hollytail's lips started to tremble, she dropped her head. "Because I am not a member of Starclan. I can't speakto them...or anything!"
"Oh."
Thats all Graypaw could say. Oh.
So much shock. When he was alive he knew his mother would do anything for her kit. Anything.
Now this is all new this...
I can't.
It was like Graypaw lost all hope in only two little words.
I can't.
All of any dream to get out of the torturous grasp of the bindings of the Dark Forest.
Gone with the
I can't.
No hope. Not even the slightest flicker of hope.
All gone with those two words.

CHAPTER 15:

I can't possible be stuck here forever...
Can I?

The comforting aura of Hollytail was gently dissolving. The dream started to condense into a liquidy feeling. Everything started to feel messed up and wrong.
Then Graypaw realized what was happening.
The dream, the hope, his one and only lifetime to get out of his prison...
was ending.
His paws swirled towards the ground madly, hitting the mettalic air. He wailed out loud, pleading for a few more minutes to be with his mother. He had so much to say that would be left unheard. He never had gotten to say a goodbye.
Never.
Its all he wanted, was to be back in the forest, or at least Starclan. He hated the position he was in. He began to feel like he was drowning, the air in the dream had turned to silver thick, suffocating, liquid. Graypaw gasped for any last speck of air. His eyesight began to flicker. He waved his limbs around in a frenzy, kicking and clawing. He screamed, then the world went black. Like a blindfold closing out the light of a window. But he still was there, alive, breathing yet suffocating. He was there, barely. Then he heard a cool, brave voice...Silverstar's voice, echoing and faint.
"Graypaw! I can't talk for long, I can barely talk at all. Trust me, you won't"
Dead silence. Her voice cut off.
Graypaw wailed a reply, "Won't what! Silverstar help! I can't possible be stuck here forever....Can I!?!?!" The metallic water poured into his mouth and flooded his nostrils intil he lost all senses and complied to the flow.
He was out like a light.
Unconcious.
