About to buy a used car, is a pre purchase inspection actually worth it?

I'm looking at a used Accord from a private seller and the price seems fair but I keep getting this nagging feeling about it. The seller is friendly, the car looks clean, but it's got 130k on it and I don't know enough about cars to spot hidden problems. A friend told me to stop being cheap and get a Genuine car pre-purchase inspection in Musaffah before handing over any money, said it saved him from buying a car with accident history he didn't know about. That sounds sensible but I'm wondering how thorough these inspections actually are and whether they'd catch things like previous accident damage, odometer tampering or engine issues that aren't obvious on a test drive. Also, does the seller usually agree to it or do some people get offended? I don't want to insult anyone but I also don't want to buy someone else's problem. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who's had an inspection done and whether it actually changed their decision.
