The bar was a hole in the wall, but Jari preferred it to other places. The people here always left well enough alone. Nobody bothered anyone else, if a fight broke out nobody interfered with it. Everyone ignored each other, would never account that someone had been there if asked. You dealt with your own poop in this bar.

It was a good place to sit back and enjoy a drink, take a break from the normal drag of the night off chasing cheating spouses or tracking down people who don't want to be found. And he can take this break due to a nice pay day from finishing his most recent job. Didn't even take much effort, just tied the guy up and dragged him off to the place the employer asked him to take the guy.

He did have some fight in him, Jari's got one nice bruise, but the were had surprise on his side. It was no easy feat carrying the man off quietly but this was a rare job that didn't have much trouble. Kept the guy alive for a few days until the employer had the final payment for getting him, then dropped him off. Whether or not he got picked up, Jari doesn't know. Didn't bother to look, didn't bother to even meet this employer, who had sent someone to negotiate a deal instead. But Jari has never been one to care.

Some would argue it's wrong to just work for whoever employs you, Jari figures even the wrong side usually has a right reason, besides who is he to judge? He'd be a fool to only take jobs he deemed right, the were would end up broke and probably dead. He just works for who pays him, nothing more than that. This job he knew nothing more than he had to get this certain guy. It was all he needed to do the job. Now he gets to congratulate himself on a smooth handling of the situation with a few drinks. So he tosses back what's left in his glass and waits to order another, just once the fight that's going on in front of his table finishes.
Sinyre had been engrossed in her most recent work for weeks on end. Holding her paint brush aloft and biting her lip, she finally decided that it was finished. She stretched, the cracking of her bones and muscles an indicator of how long she'd settled in a pose trying to get every last centimeter of this work correct. With a satisfied smile, she reached back and curled her paint stained hair into a bun and secured it with her still wet paintbrush.

Pushing her stool casually to the side, she turned from her canvas and approached the egress to her chambers. She noted the hungry growl of both her stomach and her dark side as she twisted the knob. She'd have to feed soon.

As the door swung open she noticed surprising lack of presence. There was nobody, not even her faithful renfield. A frown touched only the corners of her mouth as she peered casually down the corridors. Breathing deeply, she attempted to determine how long it had been since the humanoid presence had been present. A barely breathed curse escaped her lips--it had been at least a week since her Renfield had stood watch.

She felt something animal in her awake. There was a burning in her belly that shouldn't equate to only the need to feed... it was a burning to understand why her subserviant had deserted her. Another sniff told her that another had been present in her absolute oblivion to everything outside her. The faint scent left stunk of wolf.

She shuddered slightly, thinking of the loupe garou, and turned to patter down the hall to her court yard. She rarely fed on humans, as that would take her from the world that she knew well. Instead, she had a rather formidible stable of animals. Pigs blood was her favorite... and a sow in the later stages of pregnancy was her wine. In a rather animal display, she chose a sow only days within labor, and drank. She drank too deeply... the sow sank into her clean hay and slumbered a sleep unmeant to be disturbed again.

Sin rose, brushing her paint stained hair over her ears, a stray hay strand entangled here and there. The belly-beast satiated, she felt up to tracking her Renfield... or the one who'd made off with him. It was as though she had hackles to raise.. and those imaginary furry barbs were set to high alert as she stalked off into the dark to track her faithful servant.
"Hey, buddy."

And Jari gets nudged by the chatty human he was supposed to follow. Some guy who's cheating on his wife, or supposedly cheating on his wife. Jari's being paid to find out. It wasn't much but he couldn't be picky when it came to this sort of thing. It's why he even dealt with humans here Inbetween, otherwise he'd have nothing to do with the soft, irritating race.

The guy doesn't wait to keep talking to Jari, "I'm going to get lucky tonight, been smiling at this woman across the room all night. Just sent her a drink. And darn, is she alright all over. Chest out to here."

The man motions with his hands the size of her chest, and Jari assums the human is over exaggerating. No woman would be that well endowed. He paused with his beer halfway to his mouth and considered it. Well, maybe a few races. He nodded his head at the mark, who then took the time to describe further the attributes of this female.

Which, it was bad enough Jari wouldn't allow himself to drink on the job, but now he had to listen to this human prattle on. Though this human was Inbetween, Jari would bet his life will be short here. Too stupid, too unaware.

"'scuse me, here she comes," and thankfully the man's attention turned to the female and Jari's job was done. The human was cheating, the wife can take things from there.

While he threw some coin on the counter for his drink, Jari caught a glimpse of the woman as she pulled the human's head to her chest. Unfortunately she also seemed to notice him, and winked. Well, crap, the human may die faster than Jari assumed, but he was getting paid to just find if the man is cheating. He's certainly not getting paid enough to stop a Succubi from her prey.
((Yay it begins <3 I was just going to have everyone introduce their character and where they are a such. :>))

Lila tapped her foot against the ground impatiently, she had been waiting here at the café for over an hour now, and there was still no sign of anyone new coming from the Library. She had been stuck in the inbetween for three days now, which was giving her more than enough incentive to figure out when the portal through the Library would open up again, because, as nice as it was here on this side, Lila desperately missed her woods. The forests here weren’t the same as the ones in her world. Here there were no little glowing sprites weaving through the trees, and no owls hooting from the tops of the trees. No wolves in the forests to keep her company.

“Mind if I join you miss?†

Lila whipped her head around to see a large werewolf hovering over her. Her lips had peeled back in a small snarl, but then relaxed when she saw who it was.

“Liam? What on earth are you doing here?†Lila asked as he pulled out the seat across the table from hers.

“Got stuck here, have been for about a month. Went to the library to look up some information and wound up here. I’m still not sure where ‘here’ is.â€

Lila bit down on the inside of her lip. Liam wasn’t from her pack, and didn’t know about the inbetween in the formal sense. It wasn’t her place to explain to him either, and she would be in deep poop with her pack leader and the society if she did say anything.

“I’m not sure either,†Lila lied, hating herself for it. “I’ve been trying to get back for three days now. No luck, obviously.†She rose to her feet, since saying here with Liam would surely lead to nothing but trouble. Plus, the library was closing for the night, so her work was done for the day. Maybe tomorrow would be the day that she got to go home, but for tonight she was stuck running though the empty woods again.
Character name: Sinyre
Gender: Female
Race: Vampire
Knowledge of Inbetween: While Sin has extensive knowledge of the Inbetween and sister world (she was born a human in the human world, but carried happily from that existence when she was turned), she does not express much interest in occupying either space. As a point of fact, she rather detests the mortal, human life on the other side of the Inbetween, as it only serves as a reminder of the life from whence she came.
Age: Sinyre has ultimately lost count of her actual age, although she estimates that she is about 330 years old. Turned in her early 20's, she retains a youthful image.

Appearance: Sinyre is of small-stature with a crassly charming sense of humor. Quick witted and rarely caught off-guard, she seems to have an aptitude for manipulating situations and social counterparts. She blends well into crowds, however uncomfortable it makes her. Years of hiding from the sunlight has all but removed all pigment from her flesh. She has a heart shaped face, accentuated by a rather pronounced raven colored widow's peak, rouge stained lips, and darkly fringed violet eyes. Her hair is ink colored and feathered lightly just past her shoulder blades. Wildly artistic, she is often times found locked up in her quarters, hair twisted back with a paint brush, fingers and clothes smudged with various colors in many traditional mediums. She rarely seeks companionship outside her small clan. When an outsider strikes her interest, she's quite driven to initiate them into the inner circle of clan mates and her species' way of life.

History/backstory: Sinyre's mortal life at the lower echelon of the social ladder was uneventful, but harsh. She and her family worked hard for every coin, every drink of clean water, and every crumb of food. The wear of this previous existence is still apparent in the way she carries herself. Sin was middle aged in her time and although never married, she was the bearer of a single bastard child named Julian. In the last of the lascivious trysts responsible for her illegitimate, she found herself entangled with a vampire. Kiel, her creator, became her long time companion, lover, and tour guide between worlds. With her mortal parents and only child long dead, she feels no connection to the human reality.
Character Name: Jari Vaara (J makes a Y sound, think Yah-ree)
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Race: Werewolf
Knowledge of Inbetween: Jari stumbled into the Inbetween by accident. It's one he'll never forget, it's a world that's hard to avoid.

Appearance: Jari is rather plain, brown hair past his shoulders, brown eyes, facial hair on days he doesn't feel like shaving. His face could nicely be described as pointed, others would claim it's rat like. Like many weres, he's got a lean, muscular stature, one meant for stamina. He's got a collection of tattoos, as well as a nose ring and several earrings up and down both ears. As a were he's dark brown, with several darker brown/blackish markings. These markings are on his head/face similar to a helmet. Down the front of his chest and the front of his forelegs. The front of his hind legs. Down from his "helmet" across his back and the top of his tail. (Jari is a pet form of a name that means Helmet Warrior.)

History/Backstory: A time ago Jari lived with a pack of weres, grew up hating it. Hated the discipline, hated having to think as a pack instead of as himself, hated having to bow to a leader. It was an alright childhood overall though, he never starved, he never lacked for much. But as he grew up he grew more rebellious, mainly from the fact he didn't like to follow orders, but that was like any teenager. Eventually he went off for himself, which exposed him to an entirely different world. Even though he grew up in the Others' world, it's different when experienced from the safety of a pack. It took awhile for Jari to find his way and hold his own against the others here. He's learned to keep his mouth shut and watch from the shadows, unknown unless he feels like being noticed. Still when irritated his mouth'll get him into trouble still but not he can fight back better. Jari has rules he lives by: Don't snitch. Don't help pretty girls in trouble. Don't start fights you can't finish. Don't give second chances. Don't go anywhere without a few knives. Don't trust easily. There are more, most come from experiences in his life. They've done him good so far in life. Currently Jari does odd jobs. He knows people who knows people who need favors done. What those favors are vary, everything from watching someone's wife/partner to finding people to working as a temporary body guard.
Character name: Lila
Gender: Female
Race:Werewolf
Age: 23

Knowledge of Inbetween: Member of the werewolf sect of the Others' society. Was born and raised with the society. Frequently visits the Inbetween for her work as part of her pack’s intelligence division.

Appearance: In both of her forms, Lila is very unassuming. As a human she stands around 5'3", but she carries herself in a way to where her height usually isn't obvious. She has insanely curly dark brown hair and dark green eyes . Being from the far northern countries that receive minimal sunlight, her skin is a few shades lighter than the average person. She also have very distinctive, ritualistic scarification markings that are 100% unique to her. She got them as part of her pack’s changing process. As a wolf, she is tiny, around the size of a German Sheppard as opposed to the other weres which are typically larger than great danes. Her coat is a soft creamy white tipped with black. Her most distinctive markings are the ones on the rims of the ears, which are jet black. This, in a way, signifies her innate attentiveness, and ability to know everything that is going on.

>
History/backstory: Lila grew up with the societies of the inbetween. Her pack was one of the first to discover it. Growing up in the far north, where the packs are huge, Lila learned the values of alone time and personal space, something that she didn’t have a lot of. It was drilled into her from day one that the inbetween was a place that was to be protected, one that should be kept free of the parasitic vampires, evil fae and the cursed Diji. With this in mind, she grew up with a deep hatred of the other races. “Damn then all to hellâ€, her father would say, and that was what Lila believed. When the time came for her first transformation Lila was the only one of her age to survive. And as ritual dictated, she had symbolic scars carved into her body from the base of her neck to the tips of her toes. After that she was cast out into the world for three months, another pack ritual during which the were is expected to become one with their new other half. It was during that time that Lila developed skin thicker than an alligator’s and senses sharper than and blade. And it was from then that she was chosen to work for pack intelligence. Now she’s in the central area, working on cracking the patterns of the inbetween portal in the library, and facing a whole new culture where the weres intermingle with the different races.
