Exodus stood watching the pack. The scent of her own blood thick in the air. As a fae with a strong build and fur the color of the darkness she stood out quite easily. Her wounds were opened, blood seeped out and rained down on to the forest floor. A growl emmited from her chest in attempt to shake off the pain. Her cold gunmetal grey eyes locked on to the wolves below. There was no doubt that Exodus was weak and only growing weaker as the days went by. Death was so unexpected and she began to wonder if she would live.

(Is it alright if I join? This rp seemed to spike my interests)

Carrion picked up at a respectful pace and distance after his alphas. This trespasser had better have a good choice of words with his fuming parents, or hell would break loose on this seemingly innocent wolf. He couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor soul, the loner probably only meant to just grab the Alpha male's attention. A big mistake on the loner's part in scaring away their needed dinner, now he'd have to have an extremely good reason for stepping over the lines of his home.

Carrion was very well familiar with Grim's threatening run, it was no laughing matter when his dad had that snarl on his face. The young male wolf quickly caught up to Ena, a wolf he held high respects for. He was always fascinated with an old wolf's tales and adventures, he also took a deep respect in them, almost a higher respect for them than his leaders.

The wind blowing against him, he turned his head to avoid their blows and caught the snarl on Ena's face. Shivering, he wished the best for the loner.

Ena looked up as a howl rent the air, shattering the peace and sending the herd bolting in panic. The old wolf felt a snarl curling her lips and she eagerly followed Thickjaw and Grim. Prey was not too hard to find but hunting it down still took coordination and persistence. Loping along behind the Alphas Ena was actually looking forward to teaching the trespasser a thing or two. A steady nagging hunger and the tension the hunt had promised to relieve intensified the need to confront this perceived threat. Picking up her pace so as not to get left behind she watched as Grim charged forward with a dangerous attitude about him.

Thickjaw tensed at the sound of the howl, then snorted in disgust as the herd bolted. She turned to face the noise, hackles bristling, tail raised aggressively. "Who dares trespass in our lands?" she snarled, shrugging her shoulders forward to indicate that her pack members should run after her mate and face the interloper - even as she herself charged after Grim with a threatening bark.

Grim's eyes suddenly snap around with a whip of his broad head, a dangerous look written across his scarred face. All the deer immediately bolt at the timbre of a long howl in the distance, their sharp hooves carrying them quickly away from the pack. They had failed the hunt before it could even truly begin, and someone was going to pay.

He twists around to lunge in the opposite direction, his gaze pointed and predatory while his nostrils flare to pull in the scent of the stranger. He gives no warning call as he barrels in the young male's direction, his hackles standing stiff, scruffy tail held high in the air like a war flag. If Grim was anything, he was brutally territorial, especially against rogue males who might threaten the numbers of his pack by leading females away, or worse, trying to usurp his position as leader.

Slowly laboring to her feet Ena slowly came forward. Though she was quite long in the tooth her light build made her an excellent runner. Her position was low enough in the pack that she stayed a respectful distance from the alphas, but she was high enough that she kept in front of the new wolf that had just arrived. As they reached the heavily undergrowth she spread out away from everyone else. A big deer moved nearby and she slowed down, getting into position. Now it was just a waiting game until the alpha gave the signal to attack.

A lonely, rather skittish male approached what seemed to be a pack's claimed territory. His brown eyes flared with a certain uncertainty as he decided whether or not to step over the exact line onto the fresh terrain or not. He held in a deep breath, and stepped onto the land, hoping what he would come across would be friendly. His black fur didn't him help him much against the brown and gray earth around. Jeb, following the unwritten rules of joining a pack, took a deep breath in and released a deep howl of greeting. He would not move, knowing it was rude to just approach the pack without being questioned first. He stepped a bit more inward the land to avoid the stench of the urine markings and took in the scents within. He could hear the faint beating of hooves, a hunting ground must be near.

Jeb had never been a large wolf; his structure was a bit smaller, making his a swift runner. He had hoped he would grow bigger, but his hopes had been dashed at this point. He did have some good traits though, making up for his fragile figure; he was a great runner, fast enough to run beside the fastest elks; okay, so that wasn't completely true, but he was fast enough to outrun a couple of rabid canines he met. The canines had been on a nearby farm not too far before he ran into this forest; they must have been shy of a year old he concluded. He looked down at his sore, ripped pads and whimpered.

"The pack must be busy" Jeb mumbled impatiently.
His eyes flickered over the area once more. Might they all be hunting? No, the alpha must have heard him. He wasn't quite sure if the alpha would come, or the pack members. He hadn't been in very many packs- one to be exact- but he had been the alpha's son! That must count for something right? Anyways, that life was long behind him it seemed. Jeb sighed and awaited the pack nervously.

Carrion moved steadily behind his mother, swiveling his ears to and fro, trying to catch any sort of sound that might escape from what would be their delicious dinner. Mother wouldn't be calling him a tail-tucker after this hunt was over. Carrion would make sure everything go as planned. His eyes flickered to the loner. Hopefully everything would go as planned. He swore he'd bite the head off of anyone who dare make a slip up. Of course, with Alpha's word.

While searching, he saw his sister's hateful gaze to the alpha. He frowned. Carrion loved all his siblings, and he would be torn to see any fights within the family. So many wolves praying, fighting, hunting to get to the top of the ranks, to gain dominance over others. He huffed. This was going to be hard.

Finally, they arrived to the trees. He held his breathe, and took caution to breathe slowly and silently. Carrion carefully dodged branches and twigs. Any sort of sound, and that deer would be running before he would be able to speak. If he messed this up, it would be the end of him and any chance of him receiving dominance over the pack. Studying the Alpha, he watched the deer eat silently and calmly, unaware of the approaching danger.

Arine looked up at her mother Thickjaw. She absolutely hated being related to her, seeing as she was nothing to her. A daughter that was only half as good as her mother because she was a Steppe wolf as well as whatever her mother was. She'd never be as good as she was. The only way she'd ever make it to the top would be with her brain. She hoped...

Silas trotted behind the others he kept his distance from the pack. He didn't mind helping out in the hunt for he would get a some sum out of it. Silas' ears had twitched hearing the deer nearby. His mouth had begun to water.

The alpha female parted her jaws slightly in a panting grin of approval as her mate stepped forward to take the more aggressive role, adding proper harshness to her own concession and ensuring that both their statures were unharmed - no face lost as long as Grim ran at her side, that was one of the reasons she took him as mate to begin with. Once the pack's voices had died away, she licked her lips and gave an energetic bark.

"Very well, then! MOVE OUT!"

Without waiting to see who followed, she launched into a trot, quickly settling into that distance-eating lope that all wolves share. The big female headed toward the nearby herd, head high and tail stiff. She was leading her followers to a heavy copse of trees near the big deer, where the tangled undergrowth provided plenty of cover for a hunting party...

Carrion spotted his father and his eyes gleamed. He kept the serious expression on his face, not moving his gave anywhere from the Alpha Male. All these distractions were keeping them from hunting. He was eager to go, however he stayed with the pack. No need for a rush, as it would not catch prey any faster.

"Understood!" He spoke loudly, dipping his head to the Alpha Male, and lowering down his tail. This was the respectful thing to do, and he respected his father very much. The work and love he puts into the pack really made Carrion impressed.

His eyes flickered again to the male, and he flicked his tail. In his head, he grinned as his father declared no meat for the loners until they have proven themselves.

"Fine day for a hunt, I suppose...but I'll be sharing no meat with some worthless vagabond. If you aren't with this pack, I'll consider you against it, until you prove otherwise. No meat! Not even if you do manage to take anything down. Or else I'll punish every scrap you steal by taking it out of -your- hide." A much larger wolf than Souta had said as he curled his lips. Souta only glanced over at the wolf that had spoken to him. He didn't reply nor did he want to say anything for it could start a fight between the to of them.

"I will not tolerate failure. Our pack will have its feast, no matter what. Remember what we've taught you; bite with purpose and go for the legs, cripple the creature and tear out its flanks. Leave the throat to me or the Pack Mother. Understood?" He then announced.

"If we work as a team and read each others movements we can take down any elk." Souta had added, perked his ears raised his head up but he kept his tail down to show that submission. For it was safer for a stranger in a pack to at like an underling then go about trying to prove him or herself who is boss. And it wasn't like he was going to that anyhow he preferred to be a ow ranked wolf, life seemed easier that way expect for the occasional beat downs by the upper pack members.
Grim finally stood up and shook the boredom from his body, his shaggy, unkempt dark fur ruffling with the movement. His voice was rough and ragged as he spoke, eyeing the strangers scornfully as his upper lip curled.

"Fine day for a hunt, I suppose...but I'll be sharing no meat with some worthless vagabond. Carrion glanced at the newcomer, but turned away. He disliked those who trespassed. The tough-looking make raised his tail at a medium height, making sure not to pass his mother, as she was of a higher position, and her tail would always be higher, showing a dominance only she had.

"I'm ready to go." He said in a respectful manner, but eyeing the wolf invited to hunt with such a pack like his. He wrinkled his nose slightly, but continued away, feeling the earth with his paws. Carrion tried to feel any type of rumbling or vibrations. The prey always made such a noise when in a stampede.

This was his chance to prove to his mother that he was a loyal, dedicated member to the pack, and he, once again, puffed his chest out, almost making him as big as his mother.

"Just going hunting, were you? In our territory?" The alpha had spoke has she curled her top lip even further. Souta had kept his tail down and his head low in respect. "Well, you might as well come along, since we're testing omegas and most of our young ones and newcomers apparently haven't the gut to step forward. Which reminds me," -here she raised her voice yet higher -"this is your last call to be tested this hunt, you quiet lot, you tailtuckers."

When he had heard her say this Souta had sighed in relief, but now he was stuck hunting with them. So, it seemed. Souta lifted his tail slightly just from a thought of hunting with other wolves again. "I am no tailtucker," he proclaimed. "I am always up for a hunt." He told the alpha has he made his way past her. He still had his head low but he moved his ears forward to listen to the elk that were nearby.

Glancing at the rest of her pack to gauge their mood, her ears pushed forward in a display of dominance, Thickjaw lifted her head, golden eyes piercing Souta through and through as she neared him.

"Just going hunting, were you? In our territory?" She lifted her lip yet farther, tail held stiffly behind her, belying her syrupy-sweet tone. "Hmf." Casually the bigger, older wolf shot her paw out to cuff the younger one. "We'll see about that." She sighed haughtily, and with a flick of her tail, spoke in a resigned tone clearly meant to carry. "Well, you might as well come along, since we're testing omegas and most of our young ones and newcomers apparently haven't the gut to step forward. “You're not from the pack! What do you want, stranger?" A large wolf had said while she bared her teeth. Silas had taken a few steps back and lowered his head. The best he could do to show that he meant no harm.

“I wasn’t meaning to intrude, my apologies,†Souta begun to say as politely as he could lone wolves hardly had conversations with other wolves, not that they were unsocial, it was just safer not too. For a lone wolf fighting up against a pack of wolves is a dead wolf. “I am Souta and I was just on my way to hunt and wasn’t paying any attention to where I was heading.†
Thickjaw looked up sharply at the black newcomer, teeth bared. "You're not from the pack! What do you want, stranger?" She hunched her big shoulders and bristled her mane, advancing stiff-legged towards the strange-eyed wolf.
