His paws have taken him far in his young life, and he's been somewhat hardened by his experiences and lack of stability. From a distance, a 26" tall male Catahoula Leopard Dog had been watching. He is amused by the comings and goings of the other dogs, observing how they all seem to try and find their place among the others. Rift has never been part of a stable group, and their proceedings amuse him. His ears flop forward when he cranes his neck to better see the two females bowing their heads.<br /> <br /> Now that's more like it, he thinks, assuming for some insane reason that perhaps females are just submissive to males around these parts. His little stub of a bobtail wags a bit and he notices that the male they are looking at is huge and shaggy, almost bear-like with his black coat, but he's not bristled in aggression and he looks calm, possibly even friendly. Rift decides to approach.<br /> <br /> From a good distance off he barks once and then prances forward with a loose, easy gait showing that he is coming casually and joyously, not as a threat. His ears flop loosely atop his head, one catching backward while the other bobs forward. His alert blue eyes are shining with excitement. There are a lot of dogs over here, and Rift is excited to be around other canines again. On the streets you usually meet one, maybe two dogs tops and the others stay at a distance.
