Debate CHAT

There should be a Debate CHAT! Most of the time in the forums, barely ANYONE even sees or comments on your Posts, so I think there should be a CHAT for it! There also should be an agreement thing that pops up each time you go into the Debate chat so no one talks about things like Homosexuality or whatever. It would be nice if you could get quicker responses. Please consider my idea.

Also: If you think a debate chat shouldn't be here since this is a Dog Sim, then why is there a roleplay chat? O_O

It's also in the mods best interest to make a site actually decent so people will want to stay on it. I've been here for over a year. And the mods are what are ruining this site, like I've said a million times, because they only take into consideration what they want.

=| Say what you will about the mods but they DO work hard on this site. A debate chat is just asking for fights and I'd rather our mods be doing other, more important things rather then constantly telling people how to debate in a chat rather than argue, fight and be passive aggressive.I've seen it happen in the forums time and time again. And that's all I have to say on this.

I don't support for reasons stated.

Good for mods who don't want to patrol a chatroom. Oh wait, I think that's exactly what they are supposed to do. As mods.

Exactly. It'll be a massive argument-fest, as the debate forum sometimes gets. All it takes is one person who is there to argue -not DEBATE- to start a fight. Sure, they could have a mod in there. At all times. Reading everything.

Or people could just use the debate forum which is easier to manage.

Having a pop up with the rules doesn't do much of anything. We still get immature youngsters in the 18 forum. Heck, people break the debate rules in the forum left and right, I can't imagine why the mods would want a debate chat around.

I can just see it being a big argument-fest. :(

That could easily be solved by a set of rules that you have to agree to in a little popup (like the 18+ board has) and a mod watching. I don't think it would be that difficult, really.

What I'm saying is that it can get out of hand. There are countless times in chats where things get out of hand easily and mods aren't able to keep up. Just think of how much more of that will happen in debate chat. Yes, I know what debating is, but some people might not.

THANK you.

What people are ignoring is that there is an obvious difference between arguments and debates. There's no mocking or name calling allowed in debates, and there are very specific rules that most (serious) debate competitions require their participants to follow. Apply common sense, and moderating a debate chat wouldn't be any harder than moderating the regular chat.

When you don't recieve a response to your mod app, it probably means you were declined or they don't need mods.

No support at all. I dislike this idea as we have a board for this. Chat moves very fast at times making it hard for mods to moderate something that can easily turn into a place for arguments and heated fights.

Yes! Thank you, Nitrous! I and someone else applied to be a moderator WELL over 2 weeks ago, and we STILL haven't received responses! >.<

I agree with Shadow Wolf to be honest. We've seen how fast chat moves when an argument sparks up. Imagine how fast it would move if there were a chat specifically for debating/arguing.

Honestly. I'm feeling another situation where what the staff wants is coming first.

If it will be "hard to moderate", get more moderators. And ones who want to moderate the chat and are capable of doing it competently.

Pretty much, Twin. How many times do we have to say it? Or are you not even reading our posts? I don't know if that makes you lazy, or you just care so little about this topic that you can't be bothered to read them, in which case, you probably shouldn't be posting here anyways.

Are you guys ignoring what we say?!

07-5-2011 at 10:11 AM
No support, there's a debate forum and it's enough :)

07-5-2011 at 6:22 AM
No support.

The debate threads get heated enough as it is, a chat moves faster and is only going to cause trouble. Argue that all you want but it's the truth. Some people don't know how to debate in a civil manner.

...I love how people ignore the big thing here. Meaning, people don't go on the debate thread! Seriously, it's the same people. That's why we want a chat. Because then we'll have more people posting than three or four. And just because something is off the top of your head doesn't mean it isn't right. Just because chat goes faster doesn't mean anything.

I don't support...we already have a debate thread.
And like df0 said, it would be hard to moderate.
