Ala Changes 8P
Started By
I miss the old Ala. Before I start, I am not here to rampage and nitpick about little things, but just major things that are starting to make this site more of a chore thank a fun activity. As of late, I have noticed that almost everything is getting more expensive, not just by a couple thousand, but by hundreds of thousands of dollars. I.E scholar Collar was-110,000 now-1 million. revitalizer was-15,000 now-150,000. I understand the economy is going to pot, but now newbie players can't possibly hope to afford a collar, and will probably just quit in frustration. lastly, I am getting a bit upset at how controlled Ala now feels. Around once a week, I am messaged about something being wrong about what I am doing, wether it be a list on my profile, or chat, forums, or scribbling other users. I know a couple of times I was wrong, but the rest of the time the things I was modded about were little things blown out of proportion. I also feel that the mod(s) are being a bit biased after talking to players about issues, as one mod put me on her no-sell list for some reason I don't understand, and now if I make a mistake in chat or something, she starts acting like I hacked ala and stepped on a puppy. I just would like them to get on the same level and not act so holier than thou art.

What happened in chat? [I apologize for so many questions]

when all the mods and such get on and see what is in the forum and hear about what happened in chat. I can picture a bunch of updates will happen tomorrow

Kommandant, what is happening tomorrow?<br><br><i>"I am wondering what would happen if all Ala users just didn't buy anything from the shops, would Ala like crash or something?"</i><br>Nah, people would start selling items in user shops for ridiculous prices [but not as high as the shops which is.. very high]. I can see the big increase in scholar collar price as a nice way to rent out my SC and make cash ;)<br><br><i>"When the messages your admins send to users make your users cry, it's time for things to change."</i><br>I know that many users on Ala are younger players who tend to get their feelings hurt quite easily, but I was talking to an Ala-friend of mine recently who got their feelings hurt because an admin had basically told them to stop talking about their life/past. I know that it's a serious issue when users start talking about their real names/location/address [this shouldn't be done on any site, really.] but I don't think admins should be trying to silence users who are talking about their life/a difficult past. I was severely disappointed to hear this from my friend because the issue was something that cannot and should not be silenced.<br>Though I do not know the whole story, this is just what I've gathered from the friend. I will not form negative opinions about the admin/mod because I don't know what went down exactly. It just really depressed me.

Glad to see this thread around, hopefully it does some good for Ala.<br /> <br /> I agree completely with everything that's been said, particularly Nitrous. :D I for one, having donated a fair bit to Alacrity, haven't donated a penny in a long time simply because I haven't been happy with how Alacrity's been going. Unhappy player = no monies for Ala. <br /> <br /> And I do agree that some staff members could use a good talking to, or shouldn't be in a position of such power. A bad mod makes Alacrity look bad, plain and simple.

I am wondering what would happen if all Ala users just didn't buy anything from the shops, would Ala like crash or something?

I agree with everyone that's been posted here. And I completely respect Kommandant posting what I had to say privately. <br /> <br /> I have one thing to add that nobody has already said. When the messages your admins send to users make your users cry, it's time for things to change.

how did they get like that though? did the power go to some of their heads? I can't see how they would get elected to mod status as some of them are acting right now

I've noticed that too. "Stop liking what I don't like" is a bad way to handle things.

hahaha Gamzee, I know of like 100 times when that happened, I just can't wait till tomorrow, there will probably be mass chaos because no one can afford anything anymore

I love Ala, I love it to death, I'm on here all day every day. But I have noticed that sometimes admins/mods/whatever let their personal opinions get in the way of enforcing rules in Chat. I will come up with a bizarre example.. [didn't actually happen]<br>We are in chat talking about colours we like. I like blue, Nitrous likes red, Kommandant likes green [sorry, lol I just used any names]. Me and Kommandant don't like red, but a mod does and we are discussing what we don't like about red. There is no arguing, no fighting, it's just a calm conversation and nobody's feelings are getting hurt. Mod likes red, says "OKAY MOVE IT TO DEBATE". :\

basically, when I show a legitimate thing that is wrong in chat, they say TO THE ISSUE HUBBB!!!!!! then they just say "flowers and unicorns if you don't obey we will fine you and make you miserable!"

Personally, I can agree with much of what you said, and I'm glad someone finally stood up and said it publicly. <br /> <br /> There is a <i>serious</i> issue with how modding is being handled at this point. I'm tired of resorting to complaining privately for the sake of protecting feelings of people who, for the most part, obviously have no respect for mine or anyone outside their circle. <br /> <br /> It's gross. I'm not sure anyone else noticed this, but rule was removed after I reported it not being enforced. That was after two mods and an admin completely denied it ever having existed despite my screen shots and evidence. <br /> <br /> And what was the point of that? It certainly was not the line I was fed and then locked out of responding to.<br /> <br /> And not only that, but no one here will stand up and accept even the <i>tiniest</i> bit of responsibility.<br /> <br /> There's no reason for Ala to be operated this way. You're flushing the game straight down the toilet and pissing off some of your most senior members. I'm tired of hearing "Ala is a strong game" or "what we're doing isn't going to ruin the game". <br /> <br /> You know what? It is. It's already started. <br /> <br /> I can't get a freaking fundraiser started for an excellent cause because no one can contribute because of the incessant ruination of the game's economy. And not destruction just for the sake of destruction, but for profit.<br /> <br /> I feel bad for Rob. We used to kind of be friends. I've hardly seen or heard from her in months and whatever she's going through, I'm sure it's a legitimate reason. But to completely ignore what it's put Ala though and the damage that's occurred in her absence? It's absurd. <br /> <br /> I'm over "polite". Seems like some people just need to wake up.<br /> <br /> The issue hub is not enough. It's far from being taken seriously.<br /> <br /> If you really want to know why we aren't donating? Well, it seems to be unanimous in my group (people nearly everyone knows or has likely heard of) that it's the sheer lack of respect for your supporters.<br /> <br /> This isn't staff bashing. This is an intervention.
