Dogs vs Chicken(Shoot or not to shoot)

THIS POST INCLUDES CENSORED SWEAR WORDS

So recently in a group on, of course, Facebook someone posted a simple rant about their Landlord's puppy coming over to their house and killing one of their chickens. The post said I just found out that my landlords dog killed one of my chickens. This dog has been nothing but trouble since he got it. It terrorizes my rabbits and goats, and now this. If it weren't my landlords dog, I'd shoot the d**n thing."

Guessing from how she put it she didn't know when it first happened, she also threatened to kill said dog (she later stated that it was just a puppy) over something as stupid as a chicken. Now I own chickens, and I love them however they are just eggs and meat. My own dog has killed 3 of my chickens and attacked other multiple times but I would NEVER EVER dream of shooting or getting rid of him over it. They are just chickens and he(and the puppy) are just dogs they don't know better. They are predators and chickens are prey.

A lot of the comment on this post were along the lines of (and these are all copy and pasted from the thread)
1. "Shoot it anyway, just bury it before they know...."
2. " Shootout em'shootout em'shootout dat d*m dog"
3. "Shooting a dog with a BB gun is abuse. Shoot to kill or don't bother..."
4. "never complain and hope the dog disappears some night when no one is watching"
5. "Well there is always the "I didn't realize it was him" and shoot him anyway. wink emoticon"
6. "If it were me the dog would be quietly coaxed into my car and taken a good 45 minutes away to the local pound."
7. "Just reply with " No, I haven't seen him in a couple of days."
8. "Sss n when asked a simple idk would be my answer. Tomorrow night is a perfect cover just saying"

and the worst

9. "Trap the f*****, throw it in a bag with rocks and put it in a river! Or alternatively, say you saw a fox, or coyote, shoot it and say it was an accident!"

and many more all saying to kill the dog, shoot it with a bb gun, take it to the pound, etc. but most are just saying kill it. So what's everyone's thoughts on this? If a dog happened to kill a single chicken would you just go ahead and murder it? Or would try and resolve things peacefully?

NOTE: The poster of the rant informed her landlord of the puppy's actions and as far as she knows will be using a tie out now
