The Riddler's Riddles

I remember a big ol' debate on chat yesterday about this, but nobody got around to making a debate topic.xD Was just reminded of it and decided to post this.

The basic gist of the discussion was that people were pissed about the last riddle's answer, because it made no sense. And people brought up that most of the riddles lately make no sense and are more annoying than they are fun, like they have been in the past.

I personally have to agree with this. The answer to the last one was ridiculous and made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Then, the new one is one that I could've figured out when I was five. And I realize that I'm noticing a pattern with the riddles lately. I used to love doing the riddles, even if I failed, because when I found out the answer, I would be like, "Wow. That makes sense, how did I not figure that out?XD" Now, I see new riddles and don't even bother because I can't find ANYTHING on Ala that seems to fit. Then I get the answer, and my basic response is, "WTF?" And, every once in a while, I feel like the person who came up with the riddle is treating us like idiots because it's so simple that it can barely even qualify as a riddle.

In short, I think the quality of the riddles on Alacrity has gone down greatly recently and, quite personally, it's incredibly annoying. Especially when I desperately want to figure it out, and it's something like the last one. (Which, again, what the heck was that? Made no sense whatsoever.)

I honestly think the Riddle situation is fine. It wouldn't be much of a challenge if everyone could get it. The riddles make me think and most of the time, I don't even try because I have no clue what it could be. However, there is someone out there that did get it. It would be a lot less fun if everyone got the riddle, the money, and the prize. The prize wouldn't be as rare and the money, is just money.

The current one makes sense only if you are from an English speaking background or know the language very well. <br /> <br /> The last one, I didn't really try, but it would have made some sense to me.<br /> <br /> Problem is, we have a lot more items now and going through them all to see which one could fit takes up time I usually am not willing to put in anymore if the hints are really vague. <br /> <br /> So yeah we need a bit of a different system for the riddler I think.

Yeah. I don't even bother anymore.

The last riddle and answer is always displayed on the Riddler page, Meredith :) It was: Q: This is for redheads only to wear. A: Pumpkin Hat.<br /> <br /> And I agree. Either the riddles have made virtually no sense, or they've been far too easy (this current one). I've not very pleased with them as of late.

well what was the last riddle and answer again? as for everything else, im sure we'll get the hang of it, some people like a challenge as such. maybe too many people got the old ones.

Totally agree.. The riddles when I first started were fun and challenging, but now they're just either silly, convoluted, or simple... :(<br /> <br /> On the other hand, though, I've never actually tried to create a riddle. So for all I know, it's really difficult to make good ones... =/

Agree. The current one as of writing this is okay, but..<br /> <br /> It seems like it's become "answer a really vague question" and that is not what a riddle is.

I completely and totally agree with this. I used to love waiting for the next riddle to come along, that way I could try again if I failed. Now I just look at it and think "Eh whatever."
