Summer or Winter?

The great seasons debate: Summer versus Winter Edition!

You must State Your Reasons! The purpose of a debate is to convince a neutral bystander that your side is better than the other side for a logical and coherent reason. No appeals to emotion! No fallacies or circular arguments (which is actually a fallacy but I've got a tempo going here)

Convince our bystanders! The warm and sunny days of BBQ and lemonade or the crisp and snowy times spent huddled with your hot cocoa on the other side of the year?

Make me proud!

Winter. Have you ever tried having hot choclate in summer? How about christmas in July? It doesn't work no matter how you put it. The cold 20 below degree weather is what makes it fun. Watching sun glitter and dance to the ground. Where they form bounds to build and squish the next morning. Singing merry songs that bring you closer together. And, sitting around a tree.

I'm going to have to say I like winter more. :P First off, my name is Snoweh, which already implies I love snow, haha.

And snow is just too awesome. Even though it gets freezing, you can warm up with a nice hot chocolate, or a blanket. (; In the summer, it's hot and the sun is always beating down. Yuck. xD and you get sweaty if you stay outside for too long.

Though, I do have a pool, and I enjoy swimming in it. Just not walking around in the middle of summer. Way too hot. :P

I live in Scotland, so I'm used to it being cold.
I do like winter, but I'm going to have to say summer!

Because I'm a wannabe Entomologist and most insects are around in summer, so I can catch and study them then.
And (at least here) lots of really cool animals only come around in hot weather.
And I agree with most of the reasons already posted.

I grew up in Wisconsin. Which by default, means you must love Winter. lol.

*I love stepping on puddles that have turned into that wonderful white ice.. which crack so easily when stepped on.
*When you breath deeply through your nose and your nostrils stick together.
*Air so cold you can feel it spread in your lungs.

Not to mention all the full outdoor activities! Skiing, snowshoes, snowmobiles, heck.. just playing in the stuff! What's better than falling on your back in a soft pile of cold, fluffy snow and rolling around until your fingers turn numb?!

Winter is the only time of year I truly feel alive. Everything smells cleaner and fresher, The beauty of the sparkling snow in the moonlight <3.. I do love a good thunderstorm, yes.. but would trade it for Winter any time. If only October were in Winter, then it would be perfect. heh.

Winter is my favorite! My reasons...

-Well, my birthday is in January! :D
-Christmas. Oh yes.
-Hot chocolate and hanging by a nice warm fire. But let's now forget the marshmallows. >:3
-The beautiful snow. It creates a great picture right in front of you..
-You might get snow days!

Okay, I have more, but, I don't wanna add too many. x3

And besides, summer is too hot and buggy. :|

"ooo I didn't know Spring was an option..."

It wasn't but I decided to put it in there! Throw a monkey wrench in the gears! :D Since i like Spring more than the 2 options given

SUMMER! I live in an area of the US where winters get so cold, you'll get frostbite within seconds of stepping outside. It's been -40 degrees F before. Way too cold. And because I go to college, I have to walk outside to get to my next class. It's nasty.

I vote for flip-flops, tanning, sunglasses, swimsuits, beach volleyball, and laying around in the sun!

Or I cast my vote for Autumn, but only because that's when my birthday is. :P

And no to Spring! After all that nasty snow melts, it leaves mud everywhere, and when you walk, your shoes squish squash in it. ><

Swimming is a good point, Tigress... Since I never swim, that didn't occur to me >.< I do love to swim... But I'm afraid that since there are indoor pools in various establishments, I'm going to have to stick with winter for now. Also, the fact that it was 86 today, I sweated my way through two hours at the shelter, and I'm getting a farmer's tan steer me towards winter as well. Haha...

Summer!
I have a pool in my backyard, and it's sad to see it sitting there without getting used all winter. And plus summer break is awesome! Winter is too cold.

I would love winter if it didn't rain the majority of the time here, and I'd love summer here if it weren't too hot.

I want to do everything with my dogs, can't very well do that in the rain, or risk heat exhaustion.

07-12-2011 at 10:54 PM
ooo I didn't know Spring was an option... But nah, I think I'll still stick with winter for the aforementioned reasons ^.^

ooo! Tiger throws a wrench into the works! Spring has entered the running, folks! 8P

Spring!
Summer is to hot, Winter can be to cold (lost my cold tolerance). So SPRING!

Everything is starting to grow! New Life!
Rain showers(if we're lucky)
Temperatures are JUST RIGHT!

Best. Debate topic. Ever.

Winter! Winter is my favorite season.

♥You can make all sorts of yummy foods that are too hot/heavy/thick for summer. Hearty stew, spicy chili, warm soup... These foods in summer only make you sweat more, but in winter they warm you to the core and make you feel all cozy.
♥You can drink hot cocoa and coffee and tea without feeling like your insides are an oven.
♥Snow is prettier than rain, and it's less gross - it layers the ground in a fluffy white blanket, whereas rain just soaks into everything and makes muddy puddles.
♥In winter you can wear hoodies and hats without people looking at you like you're crazy.
♥Sure, summer has the beach, but the beach also has sand and bugs, and sunburn. o.o
♥You can do outside stuff in the winter without breaking out into a drenching sweat (winter is especially nice for volunteering at the animal shelter - if you get cold, hug a fluffy dog!)
♥And last but not least, my favorite reason: You can always put more clothes on to get warm, but there's only so much you can take off before it gets creepy and/or illegal.

I prefer winter, because:
- I don't have to worry about a forest fire taking out my home, pets, and belongings (I have the means to stop a little house fire, but a big raging forest fire? No way.)
- I can choose whatever temp I wanna be in; if it gets too hot, open the window, if it gets too cold, put another log on the fire
- the bears are generally asleep, so I can worry less about going for a walk
- snowball fights
- snow angels
- snow melts, so it's not that bad if it gets in your eye/ear/mouth/underwear XD
- lots of celebrations and family get-together things
- for my family, lots of winter birthdays XD
- fishing without the mosquitoes + fish caught tend to have less parasites (in my experience) :P
- can use the oven to cook food you can't in the summer (in the summer, it heats up the house too much! D=)
- you can build things out of snow, likes giant lizards and cozy ice caves >:D
- in the winter, being active keeps you warm; in the summer, being active makes you really hot...or at the very least, it does for me e__e;
- you can so slip&sliding on the ice on pavement/puddles
- my horses get fuzzy and soft and are nice to hug <3
+ other things I'm too loopy to recall. lol xD

I say Summer.

Because:
Warmth
Sports
Activities
Friends
Fitness
My birthday :D
Happiness
BBQ's
Family
Fun
Vacations
Cruises
Beaches
Swimming
Spending time with the ones you love.
Pets
Horses
Ponies
Equines
Equestrian
Did I mention horses?

-affin
