I think it's realistic in a way for small dogs. They in RL usually don't have many. My dog was born from a 7 puppy litter, he's a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. The breeder told us they were lucky that time since most of their litters only had 4 pups with the same two dogs. It's definatly realistic considering that Labrador Retreivers in RL have 6 or more pups I've seen some with 10. So since no one could care for that number of pups, they don't have large litters (on Ala) If small dogs had 2-3 or 2-4 the Alacrity economy would be out of order. Seeing that small breeds (not including the Sheltie) are not in demand, they should not have as many pups. Larger breeds are in very large demand and want. So if small dogs had more pups it would throw of the breeding system by a lot. Seeing not many want small dogs.

ya i agree about only 1 pup for smaller breeds. i Know this wouldnt hel the whole to many dogs and breeding thing but actually realistly aussies have about 7-8 pups per litter. my cousins breed them and usually get between 5-8. But i defintly wont be breeding any of the smaller breeds if i might only get 1 puppy

I'm really not a fan of the 1 pup for smaller breed dogs. I feel like that's not promoting the smaller breeds, which I thought the goal was. I think 2-3 pups would be fine for the small breeds and 3-4 for large breeds.

I think the big main problem of this site is the lack of space in our kennels.
If we were allowed to keep more dogs (not paying that whooole lot of money and bones - an user has to pay not only for the cost of new dog purchase, but for its place too) the economy would be better.

I like the changes too and I don't see any problems with small breeds having just one or two pups, other than then I can't pick up a color I like from the litter. xD But yes, that's how it goes in real life too and as a breeder of a small and a big breed in real life, this really is more realistic and that's good in my opinion. =) Good job!

Calib, tip number one is to respond with constructive criticism instead of useless scathing remarks. I, as a real human (it is true!!), will respond better, and with actual reasoning behind your logic and by having points presented, might be more persuaded to do such.
Number two, basic idea of supply and demand is that when there is too much supply and too little demand it ruins it all. Here we have what is happening with the small breeds. Less supply lessens the problem of low/no demand.
Number three, if you read the other news comment, after the breeding recovery period goes into effect it's likely to be changed back to 2-4.
On the other hand, maybe I could make it so the small breeds can't breed at all until the economy rights itself. ;) /joke

In my opinion, all breedings should be 1-4 pup's. Sometimes, it just happens that way. :-( But, that's just me. lol

I've been stewing over the 1-3 pup litter size for small dogs and I've decided that I don't really agree with it. Is there a way we can increase it to 2-3 pups per litter? Realistically, most studding contracts out there guarantee at least two live pups at birth because you're paying for a service.
I'm a little sad that I can no longer offer a pup from my litters to the stud's owner because I usually only get one baby. Additionally, offering a free studding for pick of the litter would be a moot point for the bitch's owner when her bitch only births one puppy - it would automatically become the property of the owner of the stud. What does the bitch's owner get out of that situation?
