Thanks so much Carni! I don't really get why people thought there was too little, cause I think there was a nice amount of markings, but I am happy that you went out of your way to respond and use others requests. :)

I'm playing with the custom tool and thinking that I would have really liked to see a white belly marking; my favorite pit bull was blue with a chest marking identical to the one available to us, but his belly and the tip of his tail were white. I cannot seem to get that effect here.

Blue is in fact accepted.<br /> <br /> AKC does not register American Pit Bull Terriers, they register American Staffordshire Terriers which is technically a separate breed as it is bred to a different standard.<br /> <br /> Blue fawns are actually very popular in the UKC.<br /> This is from UKC standard:<br /> "Any color, color pattern, or combination of colors is acceptable, except for merle.<br /> <br /> Disqualification: Merle"<br /> <br /> And that would make me curious, all research I have done says you cannot tell a dog's breed by its DNA yet. Breed tests are inaccurate I'd wonder about the blood tests.<br /> <br /> However you can blood test to see if the supposed sire and dam are in fact the sire and dam. But you'd need blood from each dog. Or at least adequate DNA information. ^_^<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />

Merle they are saying is from them being used as Hog dogs and crossing with some other breeds used for the same purpose. Also if one wants to be picky, blue isn't accepted in the standard either. But this is a game, if you dont want a certain marking in your lines done breed it :D

No further changes are being made. Also, I researched more into merle in pits, and blood tests have been done to show that pure lines of APBT do exist that have the merle allele, with no evidence of out-breeding. Granted, APBTs do get crossed with dogs such as the Catahoula Leopard Dog by backyard breeders to achieve the more colorful coats, but merle exists in pure lines already, it's just uncommon.

If you don't mind me adding :3<br /> <br /> The brown coat color should come with a black nose, as red dogs come with a red nose. And the pigmentation on the lips should be black. <br /> This may help with what I mean (Dark fawn = brown)<br /> http://www.adbadog.com/p_gallary.asp?aid=5&pid=150<br /> <br /> Unless you were going for chocolate which would have a red nose and red pigmentation.<br /> <br /> And I can't really tell or not, is the blue coat's nose color black?<br /> Blue is a dilution gene, dilution of the black gene. You cannot get a blue APBT with a black nose. :3 Maybe really dark but not actually black.<br /> <br /> Also, could we get an option for a black nose and black pigmentation just around the lips (like in that link)? For those of us who want to breed to standard/correct. <br /> I suggested adding it since the base coats seem to already be implemented. <br /> <br /> since I think I'm doing a bad job explaining. XD <br /> Brown/fawn:<br /> http://odnarb.com/powellgrant03.jpg<br /> <br /> Chocolate:<br /> http://d988256.u38.infinology.net/images/yodaharnessed.jpg<br /> <br /> Red:<br /> http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/pictures/176780.jpg<br /> <br /> (well the actually proper term would be red red nose, or chocolate red nose but I put the lazy versions. :3 )<br /> <br /> <br /> Oh and that link presented on merle, it says the recent popping up of merle doesn't support that it has actually been in the breed. It supports that papers were hung.

Pit bulls do come in merle, Tigress. It's just a show disqualifier, but the gene for it has been introduced into the breed, so it does exist.<br /> <br /> http://www.apbtconformation.com/merle.htm

Nope, I think the markings are fine how they are. There's brindle and that's just about all I needed.

I absolutely LOVE the new Pitts and I just want you to know you've done an amazing job in the creation (as well as others) and it's pretty sad anyone would complain about anything!! I love the additional colors, but I was loving the new pets regardless. Keep up your awesome work and a huge thank you from me!!!<br /> <br /> ~Lainie

Thanks so much to Carni and all the other staff for always taking member opinion into consideration. I know we must be pains, and I know it must seem like we don't appreciate the work, but we definitely do!
