I've made it so dyes now decrease by 5 each night you've logged in, so they'll fade much slower.

No, if a dog doesn't have a background and is dyed, the background turns black to make the dye "pop". :)

Umm... why did Shazam end up on a black background when I dyed him? (Black&purple stripes.) Is this the Pappy dye bug?

Only floppies can't be dyed, and it prevents you from doing so. There was a bug with Pappy dyes, but it's already been fixed, go look again. :)
