Leave the TP as is. The dogs may be sold and bred but not trialed(:

leave the TP as is but dogs can not be trialed or sold but can be bred. that way people still have some value from their investment.

Or the caps could just get taken away making them even more valuable to those who get to keep them. Know how that feels.

Again, we prefer for comments - both good and bad - to be on the Admin Update thread linked above, as otherwise later when we consider what path we take, we will not have everything in one place! Thank you guys for your input on this.

Adding an exclusive companion those who didn't "cheat" this way have no possibility of getting is not a good idea. There are several people here, me included, who collect the site items, and exclusives kind of destroy the hopes of a complete collection.

Other than that I'm glad to see this is getting addressed.

Please, if you have any suggestions as to other ways to handle this issue (and there are one or two really good ones so far that we ARE paying attention to!), click on the link to the thread provided in the news post (the underlined words are a link, not emphasis - I now realize this may be a misunderstanding) and let us know what you would prefer us to do!

Okay. I see your point of view. However, I happen to be an owner of 9,000+ TP dogs. I spent over FORTY bones for a soldier helmet to make a 9,100 TP dog for the purpose of TRIALING. Then I spent more bones to procure a Magical Lifelong Locket to protect that investment—something I would not have done otherwise. I am fifteen years of age, so do you imagine that it was a simple task to gather 40+ bones for this purpose? And I also invested in a Prairie Dog to increase TP.

“As recompense for all those affected by these changes, we will be offering a special achievement trophy, as well as an exclusive companion that will boost speed and drive!”

Firstly, no trophy has ever been my ambition; certainly not a virtual one and it does not make up for my investment of money and time. Secondly – I have a bunch of companions to increase the nearly pointless attributes of speed and drive; to give more variety to my stock is as pointless as a trophy.

Rather than touch anybody’s dogs or reap anything from them – change the trialing system further. Don’t like the 9,000+ TP dogs? Okay. Fair enough. Put them in a different trialing system. 9,000.99 TP dogs and below trial with dogs of that likeness: 9,001-9,500 TP dogs trial with dogs of that likeness. Do not punish (because from my perspective and probably other’s as well, that’s what this nearly is) people who invest their time and money into YOUR game (which requires it’s player’s money and time to be a successful game) because of something that is certainly not their fault and absolutely somebody else’s.

And the only way to ACTUALLY justify making people’s investments garbage is to give them their money back. I don’t care how you do it, but heck—appraise how much the items are worth (and not how much they would be worth, minus x) and repay your players. A trophy, sorry to say, isn’t worth forty bones—as forty bones, according to your donations page is worth $40 real dollars, which is an amount I wouldn’t pay for the best shirt I’d ever seen, which actually serves a practical purpose, opposed to a trophy.

I apologize for that coming off rather harsh. I did not intent for the words to appear tart, when I would have said them matter-of-factly.

Larth, Aviator caps are used for purposes OTHER than over the cap dogs.

If the problem is over the cap dogs, then fix the cap so that dogs cannot exceed it. The aviator caps stacking then becomes moot.

The fact that aviator caps stack is not the problem.

The perceived problem is that the site allows dogs to go over the cap.

It is not breaking the site, it's merely upsetting users that don't have capped, or higher dogs. Either way, people will complain about capped dogs in their trials. It is the TRIAL system that needs an equalizer.

I use aviator caps on my customs so that their pups have higher tp's, and I can reach the cap in a lower generation.

My only over the cap dog was not created with aviator caps. He was created by careful breeding, with no repeats, perfectly clean lines. That itself took several months. He is over the cap because of soldier helmets.

I create different goals for myself in this game. When I reach one goal, I find another one to reach. If you take away goals, you take away reasons to play the game. And long time players leave.

Keep that in mind.

What about companions that raise TP? Are those being changed too?

Isn't the real problem with this that it makes trialing unfair, not that the TP raises? What if we kept the AC as is, but change the trialing system so that the TP used for the competition can never be more than 999points per skill. Then, like in breeding, over-capped dogs would be the same as capped dogs. And leader boards would still exist, so having an overcapped dog wouldn't be a complete waste of time.

This could be coupled with a no-stacking rule, but would not be necessary.

So if aviator caps are made so that they don't stack - what about using a single aviator cap on an OTC dog? What if it's used alongside a spring fawn?

Loree, this IS different because it breaks the game. It literally makes it so that people who either don't have, or can't get for whatever reason (being new) the items, can't keep up. There is a HUGE disparity between those using these items to ensure they will never lose, and those who can't even fathom how much even one aviator cap would cost them.

You would still have the items. You would still be able to use them to train your dogs faster. The difference is that you would not be able to stack them up and ensure within a few days that your dog will never be beaten in trials, and would earn you more money than the game is designed to give.

That is game-breaking. That is what we are trying to fix. Be mad all you want at me, Rob, whoever was adminning at the time these items were put in - frankly I don't care if you're mad at me for it - we just did not see this being a problem until it was way too late to do anything without having the exact reaction you're having right now. :/ We're darned if we do, and darned if we don't, but it's worse if we don't.

This is incredibly unfair. It is unfair to change the effect of something so long after the fact.

Several players have spent hundreds of bones AND real life money to gain these rare items.

I have personally complained about other items, such as the Thylacine, which was supposed to assist with the energy cap to 150%, yet all dogs revert back to 90% at rollover making it practically useless as a companion.

The site admins refused to consider changing it. Why? Because it would lower the value, and be unfair to those that donated.

This is no different.

I will vote my choice but I have to say, I look forward to the Top Dawgs list being changed. I never liked the idea of it only counting for TP :P
