Rules Clarification - General Rule #9

Posted by

The staff has had a number of incidents lately in which users either did not know - or found it difficult to remember after being warned - the exact nature of the 'gifts, sales and transfers' rule contained within General Rule #9.

I should stress, before I begin, that this is NOT a rules change - This is how we've approached Gen 9's for 3 years. However, we're still seeing a high and growing number of violations under this rule and we prefer to avoid permanent bans before they happen. This post is more a clarification - a reminder - of what counts as a gift/sale/trade/transaction of any item/dog/currency/service between non-associated accounts on the same IP.

***Please note that this DOES NOT APPLY TO YOUR SIDE ACCOUNT but specifically to other users on your IP or any accounts on your IP besides your main and your side.***
Please see the rules for further details.

This is a list of behaviors and activities strictly disallowed by General Rule #9

Regarding Dogs

- Selling a dog to the other user
- Buying a dog from the other user
- Trading one dog for another with the other user
- Giving a dog to the other user
- Sending a dog to the pound so that the other user can buy it
- Arranging to have a user on a different IP buy or receive a dog from you and send/sell it to the other user on your IP
- Receiving or buying a dog from an off-IP user who arranged to send/sell it to you after buying/receiving it from another user on your IP.

Regarding Items

- Renting an item to the other user
- Giving an item to the other user by any means, including holiday gift events.
- Selling an item to the other user
- Buying an item from the other user's shop or auctions
- Having the other user give you an item
- Having a 3rd party take/buy an item from you and give/sell it to the other user on your IP
- Having a 3rd party take/buy an item from the other user on your IP and give/sell it to you

Regarding Services

- Referring any user who is going to be playing on the same IP as you are
- Being referred by a user using the same IP as you are
- Training a dog belonging to the other user
- Having your dog trained by the other user
- Studding a Dog out to a bitch owned by the other user
- Leasing A Bitch to the other user
- Requesting a studding or a lease from the other user

Also remember that access to login information is the test of account ownership, so never share an email address with another user on alacrity and do not log into any accounts that are not one of the two you are allotted.

The admin team will be working on ways to reword General Rule #9 to make it clearer that no contact (besides socializing) can happen between players on the same IP.

We hope this cuts down on the number of rule violations our mod team has to work through every week, and, by extention, the number of users we lose to rules violations.

If you feel you have been breaking this rule unknowingly, or have further questions regarding this rule, please submit an issue to the Newbie Helper Hub. They will answer any questions you may have and be able to refer you to a staff member who can help you transition to living within the rules :)

Thank you all for helping to make Alacrity a better place
~Kit

Spam Sucks

Hello All,

It's come to our attention that people have been advertising and messaging places like "divinedeals", which offers you free giftcards if you make so many people click on their links and then they take surveys.

This is spam, and not okay to post on Alacrity anywhere. Moreover, most of these sites are scams, and you will not get the money/gift card/ipod or whatever it may promise you in return for completing a survey, making people click on something, etc.

If you have been doing this on Alacrity, please stop. If you've received one of these "divinedeals" messages from a user, please do not go to the link that you were sent and instead report the message to us.

As these sorts of things ask for your personal information like your phone number, home address, real name, and often times credit cards, we do not trust them and do not allow them posted on Alacrity.

Please remember that if you're under 18, talk to a parent before giving that information out to any website at all, as your personal information is often sold to other companies and then you are called/emailed/mailed with spam and other things. Never give out information without knowing exactly what that company will do with it, and if it's a survey to win anything free of any kind, please remember that they're funding that free item by selling your personal information.

We want everyone on Alacrity to be safe online, so please watch out for each other by making sure nobody is getting involved with scams like these.

Yours,
ZJ

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it could be a goose.
Remember, things aren't free. People don't give things away for free. If something sounds too good to be true, it is.
