The tank he was in before, was a 3 gallon and I filled it up all the way. He wasn't very active and swimming to the very top to get air was a struggle for him. I didn't know that until I got my one that I have now. I now use a 1 gallon tank and he does perfect in it. :) Bettas aren't meant to be in a huge tank, especially being alone.
