Sorry if this has already been answered somewhere before, I'm having a bit of trouble finding it in any of the tutorials and FAQs.

Is there a way to bring up my dog's confidence in the game or are they pretty much much stuck with whatever they've got?

Confidence can be boosted with items like the Marshamllow Peep and by trailing :)
