Maximum Ride RP ~The Other Story~

This RP is already in progress please do not post any replies within this thread if you are not part of the RP!! You are more than welcome to read and enjoy. Thank you :3

Story Plot:

Somewhere out on the California coastline lays a secret base. It's in plain view, yet no one knows what goes on there. The scientists who run the place have been rushing about. Gathering data, whispering among themselves keeping information hush hush. Causing some worry among other groups living within the base. Mainly the experiments who often have to deal with the white coats--scientists--daily.

Something was surely up. Especially when the Erasers are minding their manners. For several days this has been going on. Until a strange calmness filled the building. The next morning the Erasers hulled off several of the experiments. Few were loaded into armed vans while others were taken elsewhere in the building.

Our character(s) were the ones being transported. To where we don't know. Why? That's also a mystery. That's something we will all find out soon, for now let us hope that we survive to see tomorrow!!

Things We Need to Know:

This RP will be taking place in North America. Where they will end up depend on our replies. Our characters will be traveling mostly within the Pacific Area (California, Oregon, Washington etc). From there will travel east. Along the way Erasers and white coats will be hunting us down. To avoid being found they will keep themselves out of site unless supplies are needed. Or certain situations will force them to enter populated areas.

In the meantime, our characters will get a chance to get know one another. It maybe a good thing or a bad thing. Who knows!? Our characters will learn new skills, meet new people and find things about themselves they never knew about. As well as to why the white coats, Erasers and bird kids exist!

Mutant Bird Kids: 98% human, 2% avian (bird). Bone structure is lighter enabling them to fly, heavier bones would have proven to be a problem. Their wings are quite large. When stretched out they appear longer than their body. Example: Bird Kid height- 5'6" Wing Span: Roughly 14 feet. On some occasions the mutations within the bird kid evolve causing them to gain new abilities such walking through walls, turning invisible, talking to animals etc.

Erasers: Human-wolf hybrids. Most of the time they take on human form but when on the attack or on the hunt they'll appearance takes on a more wolfish look. Almost like you modern day werewolf. Almost all of them have nasty jerk like personalities. A handful have the thirst for blood. Erasers are the White Coats lackeys. So trusting one of them is a high level risk, better to avoid.

White Coats: Scientist who enjoy experimenting on other humans. They have labs all across the globe, most hidden some in plain sight. Not all White Coats are evil beings, some are out to help improve the world's existence yet those who they poke and probe don't see it that way. In any case all are crazy in the head.

As the night drew the colder I felt. I shifted on my rock chair trying to get comfortable. You would think I am use to dealing with hard uncomfortable sittings, beds etc. Your dead wrong. But one has to make do. If anything I wish to be able to stay in a hotel. Yes, I do know what that is. One things about us bird kids once we read something it sticks, though sometimes our memories aren't always triggered so easily.

There are few reasons to why I wouldn't mind being in a hotel. For one it's warm. Two I want to know if a bed can really feel like a pillow. And three in the mornings at some places there is food. Actual food! Which would awesome if there was a table of food sitting in front of me. Despite the feeling of hunger and cold I felt uneasy still.

Zachary was nearby, he was staring at me. Though after flying with him most of the day the awkwardness between us... was still there. But he's not why I felt so wary. It's almost as if... no maybe I am just imagining things. Before I think about it further Zachary offered up his jacket. Seeing that she was shivering. Then a half smile came upon his face. It almost looks forced, as though he didn't quite get how to smile.

His jacket does look warm. He was trying to be nice. Or was this some kind of ploy. Without thinking I gave him the stink eye before wrapping me wings around me, just like I have done several times before to keep warm. The feathers made a comfortable yet ticklish blanket. My seat though was starting to bother me. I slowly stood up then snuggled up on the ground next to the rock. The dirt ground was a little more patted.

"Good night." I began to say sleepily to Zachary. "Try anything, I will break your hands." With moments after threatening him I dozed off to dreamland.
Time seemed to fly fast. I wasn't tired, but that didn't mean I wanted to stay in the air for much longer. Don't get me wrong flying is awesome, but there comes a point where you need to walk on your feet. We had flown so far, I was honestly astonished to find a forest. Grass covered everything, I didn't see light below or afar, but I wasn't too comfortable. I looked around before I landed.

As I touched the floor, I wanted to check everything out before I was ok with being here. Maybe there was a camp of people far deep in the forest, or wild animals. Even though we are avian kids, we still have predators that can harm us. I looked around. Seeing the last of the sun sink. The night was fresh, nothing too cold. Or At least for me. I glanced over at the girl. Seeing her shiver. I was wondering if I should offer her my jacket. But then again maybe she would take it offensively.

I sighed. This was better then being in a dog kennel. I didn't care if it was in the middle of nowhere. I looked at her, seeing her shivering put me in a rough spot. Sigh

I.. know you are cold.. I can see you shivering. Do you want my jacket? I wasn't much of a person that smiled. But I tried adding an odd smile. I didn't want to seem intimidating. At the end it was just me and her. For now that is.
I don't remember how long we had flown. One thing was for sure my wings and shoulder blades were killing me. This was the longest I have ever flew, so I maybe overdid it a little bit. The sun nestling quietly behind some mountain peeks. I don't which mountains theses are or where I am at. If I was given a map and calculated the drive, how far we flew I could maybe pin point where we are. Not being to handle being in the sky much longer I started to slowly begun to make my way down to the ground. Luckily, we were flying over a forest. No buildings in sight, no human life. So, basically this area should be safe none the less. Hopefully we camp no where near a bears den.

Eventually, my feet touch the hard ground. My legs felt like jelly after jangling pretty much all day. I stumbled a bit to keep my footing. I rubbed my shoulders as I let my wings drop until they nearly dragged on the ground. Finding a somewhat chair like rock I plotted myself down on it. A shiver ran down my spine, goose bumps dotted my skin. Now that I wasn't moving around as much the chilly evening air reached me.

It's going to be a long night. I doubt I will get any sleep with worry about two things. One: The White Coats and Erasers are closing in on us. Two: There is a guy who I don't know anything about wandering loose. If he tries anything I will break his hands without second thought. Soon I landed he too touched ground for now he is keeping his distance.
I didn't know where we were heading. Frankly I didn't care either. I just wanted to be far away from here. I wanted to forget about all those years of pain. I wanted to forget... the pain that those needles caused me. (Sigh) It didn't matter anymore. All that matter was that I was in the air, not giving a care about the world. Well at least not right now that is.

I wasn't too afraid of the world. Most of the time the White Coats where testing us. It was all agility and testing if not needles always coming in and out of our skins. Always testing our genes or seeing if they had changed. I prefer the testing the abilities. Made me see how strong I was. Needles? I hated them. With a burning passion.

We had been on the air for a while. I kept my mind cleared, like always. Something that got me was the fact that she kept looking back. I wasn't going to disappear. Or leave anytime soon, well not unless she told me other wise. I did wonder what was going through her head. Did she not trust me? Well.. duh she didn't know me, so there was the reason.

She stopped. Maybe she heard my thoughts? Nah. That was too bizarre. Once we got to a resting place I was hoping I found things out about her.
It didn't take long for Zachary to take off from ground. Soon as he reached a good few feet from where I soared, I turned my back to him. Flapping my wings to pick up speed. I lead him East. Don't ask me how I know which way is which. It's built into me I guess. One of few perks for being a bird kid. I wanted to avoid heading West, knowing what laid there. Not only that now that we are up in the air I could see dust picking up far. Cars were headed this way. Luckily, they are far enough away to mistake us for birds. I kept looking forward, the sun behind me and a new future ahead. Excitement caused my heart to throb heavily. A huge grinned smuggled its was across my face. At some point the smile vanished, I was still happy but now a serious expression fell upon my face as a question flooded my mind.

How will we survive the within the real world? We spent most of our lives in cage after cave. Survival was bred into us dealing with all those trials, and experiments. Now that we are free no doubt they will come after us. Blending in will be difficult. And we certainly can't stay in one spot for too long. We will just have to see how things play out from now on.

We flew for several minutes. I occasionally glanced back at Zachary, he was still following. Part of me was really glad. The other part of me was still nervous about his presence. He was quiet, I figured he would be more talkative. But no, he followed without question and not only that I could feel his gaze borrowing through me.

Eventually I had to stop glancing back at him. Meeting his gaze caused me to wonder more about him. But I have yet to build the courage to ask him anything. Maybe once we finally land for some rest I'll talk to him.
I knew how to fly. Fact is, the white coats would make me fly, just to write down info. Never understood why it marvel them so. Realizing that it wasn't really hard, I easily picked up the fact that I could indeed fly. Thinking of those memories made me realize how badly we had been treated. Worse then animals that is.

I was eager to leave. At once. I wasn't too sure what I was supposed to do. I hardly remember what a sky looked like. So many things were still unfamiliar to me. I tried not to smile like a fool when I saw I had enough space to take off running and leave. I couldn't wait to feel wind in my feathers again.

I didn't know whether to ask her if she wanted to join. I couldn't stay here. I mean the smoke had cleared up some, but someone was bound to come and check what happened here. I had no plans into finding out either. I wasn't sure where I would head, just relay on pure instinct I guess. It wasn't that hard, or so I supposed.

Within minutes I saw her take a jump and her wings automatically pushed her off the ground. She had a smile that could really lighten anyone's day. She turned and faced me. I could help but feel happy that at least, we were free now. She asked Well..aren't you coming? I could tell she was trying her best to be friendly. So I then replied,

'Course I am. Didn't think it was that simple getting rid of me did ya now?
Zachary can fly. So he claims. Now I wondered to how good of a flier he is. Being locked up most of the time I rarely got to stretch out my wings. Unless it was time to test out my skills when the white coats needed further data. I wasn't terrible. I just need more wing time, in order to be able to fly longer distances. And this was a great opportunity.

I grinned thinking about flying. I wanted to take off, circle about to get a feel for the wind. Sight seeing would be totally epic from up in the sky. My eagerness ate at me. I stared into Zachary's eyes. He seems trustworthy. He hadn't done anything to me yet to prove me otherwise. Should I offer Zachary to fly with me or not? Standing here too long will cause us problems. The smoke still hung in the air.

Someone was bond to notice. Not to mention the white coats might catch a whiff of the accident. I didn't intend on being grounded this long. I thought for a minute longer before coming to a decision. I fluttered my wings a bit to loosen them up. They were a little stiff but its something I can bare with. I then looked around. Which direction should we head go for? North, south, east or west. Hard to say. If I had a map I could figure out which way would be best, for hiding purposes and getting supplies.

Oh well, any direction would work for the moment. We just need to get out of here. I turned my back to Zachary running a few steps before taking off. My wings picked up dust with the two strokes needed to left from the ground. Once I was a few into the air I turned back around to face Zachary. I stretched out my wings so I could soar in midair. There was enough up-breeze to keep me afloat.

"Well aren't you coming?" I asked giving him a friendly grin.
It was a her. Clearly. Only a few inches shorter than I was. She looked like she was ready to put a fight, but when I told her I was friendly, she relaxed. In all honesty I didn't mean any harm. I wasn't up for fight, unless it involved saving my own wings for it. She looked at me, not really sure what she was thinking, and then nodded for I guess reassurance.

I saw her looking at me. Not sure for what purpose, but if she felt more comfortable like that, I didn't mind it after all. She was shorter than me. With what looked like brown hair. Her wings were nicely colored. Rightly proportioned with her body. She was an alright looking kid, I guess if you asked me.

She claimed to be named Winter, and said she was sorry for not trusting me. That's fine with me. I don't trust that easily either. I shrugged. That's fine with me. Not like I trust you either way. So I guess we are in the same page.

She moved a bit closer to look at me. What's with the whole looking at me? It's not like I'm a freak. Ok.. maybe I am. But still. Hm.. maybe because she hasn't seen another with the same qualities as her? Maybe. Eh. Then I guess I have no reason to say anything. She moved about and finally stopped in front of me once again. Whatever suits her.

Can you fly? She asked. Of course I can fly. That's why I have wings. Duh. Isn't that kinda obvious? Stop. She's being polite. You should answer politely as well. I shrugged again. Yeah I can fly. Not a problem for me, if that's what you are wondering. I looked at her for a response.
The person approached me slowly, pausing only a second before continuing. His demeanor didn't say he was on the attack. He body wasn't tense, at move at fast pace. If he came any closer than I want him too I will throw at punch. Lucky for him he stopped a couple feet away. He then answered my question, which through me off since I never get an honest straight answer. At least I hoped he was being honest. He claims to be a friend, and his name is Zachary. For short Zacky.

Keeping my eye on him I lowered my hands back to my sides. I titled my head slightly once to one side then to the next. He was defiantly no Eraser. He didn't stink like one. Also, he was thinner than a Eraser but I could tell he was built nicely. His wings were gorgeous compared to mine. I shook my head realizing I giving him compliments. I can't believe I am already going goo goo headed over this... boy.

"The names Winter." I replied, looking away feeling a bit embarrassed. "And sorry for saying this but I don't trust you. Not yet anyways." I told him openly folding my arms.

I decided to give him one more look over. I started to slowly walk about him at close but far enough distance. Arms still folded. Both eyes on him. He was taller than me for a few inches. Which is a little annoy since I dislike being looked done upon. His wings were longer to fit his size but other than that he look normal. Well as normal as any bird kid can appear. After a full circle around I stood in front of him once again.

"Can you fly?" I asked him out of the blue. Not completely sure why I just asked him that. Though it would be a good thing to know so I won't end up flying off without him. That is if I decide to let him tag along.
I it. In the distance. Unsure of what to do next. What the hell was it doing? I shouldn't even be wondering, I should be taking off. I turned half way, but I couldn't let myself leave. If it was like me... then there was a small chance that it could know what I was, why was I here, how I was created and so forth. I took a few small steps forward.

I saw it. No... not it. Her. A female. I was sure of it. At least that what I think a female looks like. She's smaller then me. Hmm. That doesn't mean she can't defend herself. Yet again I'm not afraid to show her how it's done. Many thoughts filled my mind. I could help but notice that she was didn't have wings. Or maybe it did? How should I know. I'm just looking from afar. To take off or to see what's it got to say about itself? Heck. Let's find out

It turned slowly, and yet I didn't know how to react. Was... was she shaking? Whatever for? Not like I'm going to harm her. Well, at least I don't think I will. Not unless she picks a fight. Then I won't attack her. I shook my head, as if that could get my brain to stop processing so many questions.

After a moment of walking towards her, she stood firm. No fear to show. I kept wondering why she hadn't fled. Maybe she had the same questions as me, or maybe she didn't know anything just like I didn't. Whatever the reason was why she stayed behind, I'd find out.

Then I saw them. Wings that stretched out far. Making her look twice her size. She was just like me. Not thinking what to do I started walking again, not realizing I had stopped. There's nothing I should fear, we are the same, maybe she has answer that will answer all my questions. Maybe...just.. maybe.

I heard her say "Hello, are you a friend or a foe?" Friend or Foe. Guess I'd choose Friend, I didn't have a reason to fight her. At least not one right now. "Friend, My Name is Zachary or Zacky for short. I don't mean harm. What's your name?"
