Borzoi Items and New Site Artists!
The item art for Carnivale Kennels' new breed, the Borzoi, is finally finished and functional! :D We are still waiting to get caught up on the Thanksgiving items, but it shouldn't be much longer before that's done. Thank you to all of our artists who helped to get everything caught up and completed. <3 If there are any issues with bugs, please be sure to report them on the I Got Bugs!! board in the forums, and they will be addressed. Hopefully, though, everything should be working, and I hope everyone can now enjoy the new breed to a full extent. Thank you all for your patience!
Now, on to the subject of our former main artist/co-owner, Heleasher. I trust everyone has seen the News post regarding this, but I want to make sure everyone knows that she will still be a regular user of Alacrity, so she is not leaving the site forever and you will still see her around. As for what will happen with future breeds and items, Robyn has deemed me as the Official Site Artist, and I will be handling the breed art from here forward.
UPDATED EDIT: Maggots has resigned from her position. We still have a great team of artists, including Carnivale, Ehm, Kittybot, GeistNoir, and Wysper! The site art is still in good hands, and you can all expect some great art in the future. :}
I love the Pom! However, it looks like it needs to be a bit more realistic.

Hm. The new drawing; I like the idea, and, having known Poms in person, the body shape, tail shape, and paw size is dead on. However, I agree that the artwork looks a bit... pixelated? Which I think is most likely the result of the style of shading. Nowhere near enough shadow, if you ask me, and too much light. I've always been iffy about the use of 'white' highlights for anything, but they really are too opaque, and too 'scribbly' here... by scribbly I mean - instead of large, easy-to-read patches, there are lots of little brushstrokes, which I think is what contributes to the pixelly look.

I think maybe the inner lines should be as strong as the silhouette lines, to prevent a 'cartoon' look.

The ears are not set at the same angle as the face; they are ever so slightly off, just enough to look 'wrong'. I think the face is a little bit small as well, otherwise there is a ton of fluff and the ears are set far too high.

Look to the Aussies and the Shelties and the Borzoi for how to make long fur look 'right' in this style, I think, especially regarding the markings.

But yes, definitely has a lot of potential to be able to fit the site's style, and, other than the face/head, the anatomy is just perfect!

I think maybe the face's features are too small?

In my humble opinion (it's always easier to be the critic than the artist), the paws need a bit more detail. Also, the face (or maybe just the eyes?) needs to be reworked a bit - they have a cartoon feel that doesn't settle right with the rest of the art on the site... also, assuming this is a Pomeranian, the overall size is a bit big... Poms are pretty small.

Other than those items, I feel this is great! It just needs a little work to really suit the artistic style of the site :)

The eyes and muzzle look too anime, or cartoony, to go with the rest.

Here's a page I quickly googled up with face shots of some Champion pomeranians:

http://www.elusivetoyspompoo.com/pomchampions.cfm

Adorable, reminds me of my Max <3 The only thing is that the eyes look a bit cartoonish. Otherwise, super realistic!

Hmm I have never been a fan of pom's before. So all I can say is I'm just not a big fan, plus to me it looks a bit pixaly. And I don't like the chibi paws, sorry.

:(
