Gender Roles
Gender roles. What do you think of them?
And by gender roles, I mean the stereotypical "traditional" roles. Like, men are the ones who work and women are the ones who take care of the kids and cook. Stuff like that.
I think they are a load of crap, pretty much. Especially when people imply they should still be in effect. (I've heard people say that when women work, it destroys the family, which is not true.>.>)

Thanks. I've had heteronormative crap thrown in my face my entire life.

I can't conform to it any more than I can leap over tall buildings in a single bound.

X: A Fabulous Child's Story by Lois Gould

I think I read that last year.

But yeah, if a woman chooses to fit the "traditional" gender roles, then that is her choice. As long as people aren't forced to do so, that's fine. But I know a couple people who look down on me cause I'm like, the exact opposite of the "traditional woman" and it drives me crazy.

No, no no no no

My neighbors do gender roles and it irritates me. The young boy works with his father everyday while his sisters sit in the house and hang out. Some days during the summer, they are in the pool with their friends and he is outside working. And from what I see/hear, this is against is will.

My sister and I have been helping my dad work since we were young. As of this last year, we managed to build an entire new room, did more than half of the electric work in the house, built a large garden, rreplaced basement plumbing, and installed an invisible fence. When I get married, I won't be relying on my husband for these things becuase I'm knowledgable in these fields of "study."

At the same time, I do know how to clean the house, do laundry, etc. I think that being well rounded is a lot better for your future than maintaining a single way of life.

I think that if a man and woman are together who BOTH like that sort of arrangement, then that's fine.

But it's definitely not something that people should be held to or expected to fulfill just because of what gender they are.

Gender roles are incredibly stupid, in my opinion.
Gender roles are crap. :> And since no one has argued otherwise, I'll just leave my 2 cents and go.

God, no. No no no no.

Err, obviously think that stuff doesn't fly, haha. It rubs me so badly the wrong way I generally just become incoherent.
