An 11 year old breeding Guppies?
Hey,I have a new debate for you all. :D I have a buddy, she was going to ask her parents if she could breed guppie fish. But then, she and I started debating on wether it would be found "appropriate" for an 11 year old to actualy breed fish. She is resonable, and responsible,as far as fish go. She just wanted to practice breeding to enter some kind of show...I thought maby I should use my ability to be on ala (being of age to use it.) to have some new opinions on this topic. Any opinion is valued. :) Thank you for stopping by.
My opinion- Well,I belive it is perfictly fine. Fish breeding is different than other animals. My school had given us knowledg on the topic in the 3rd grade. She has the same knowledge aswell. I actually don't see why it would be "bad" for her to engage in an expereance that would "bear the fruit" of her labour. Thank you for reading,or even vewing my debate. :D

"Mizz Malfoy- Actually, with guppy breeding, inbreeding is how you strenghthen your lines. You refine colors, and fix issues that may occure later on with it. Inbreeding should be limited, you should refresh the blood line every 3 generations. :) (Source of info is the Fancy guppy acosiation. They have national guppy shows or somthing. :P"<br /> <br /> I agree! I kind of get annoyed when people jump on inbreeding as a bad thing. It's a very useful tool if used properly. ;) In dogs too.<br /> You just have to limit it or else you'll end up with a very limited gene pool.

Guppy shows? Sweet!<br /> <br /> Then, as long as she isn't doing anything harmful to the fish or anything, I hope she has lots of fun! Send me a guppy lol!

I think that it would be perfectly alright for her to breed guppies as long as:<br /> <br /> a. She understands everything about the breeding of guppies.<br /> <br /> b. She doesn't practice inbreeding.<br /> <br /> c. She has a responsible adult watching her activities.
