An Army of Lost Souls

An Army of Lost Souls Survival. In the life of a stray dog, this is the grand prize. It doesn't matter whether or not you enjoy doing it; the main goal is to just keep on surviving. Find food, water, shelter, and possibly even some other lost souls to help you in reaching this goal. This life may not sound very appealing... but that's because it's not. There is nothing glamorous or desirable you can achieve through this path. All that freedom junk you've heard about? Doesn't exist. Not even for us. You submit to the larger dog, the stronger dog, the more dominant dog. There's always someone higher and lower in this chain of dominance. If you were a smart pup you'd stay with man. They will feed you, provide you shelter, and even love. Honestly I can't see why anyone would leave them. If you are seriously considering joining us in this constant battle for life then you must be either crazy or a wanted dog. That's okay; most of us are at least one of the two.
Role Play Setting and Facts: Setting: Down-town New York City, present day, Winter Plot: As the cold weather rolls in and shelter becomes essential, tensions are rising between dogs. More and more are looking at trying to find a human to stay with. Many females are in heat so males are much more territorial. o The life of a stray is a hard one. Strays don't like being strays. They wish they were pretty enough to live with humans, but they never show this. I mean, come on... would you rather live on the street, having to fight for every bite of food you eat, or would you want to live in a nice, sheltered home with a family? It's common sense. o This is New York City... I don't know about you, but when I think of NYC I think of MANY fun things that dogs could do. Use your imagination, though keep it at least a little realistic. Think of the dogs in Oliver and Company and all the fun things they do. o The main focus in this role play is the strays of The Elite. This is a pack of dogs with ranks sort of like wolves, but altered a bit. You may, however, also make loner strays and owned dogs if you wish, as long as they are not the focus. Rules: (Read ALL of them, please. They are important.) 001. PM and post here all of your forms. 002. I will not deny anyone, however, I might ask you to fill out your form more completely. 003. Remember, this is literate! I don't want this moved to Through the eyes of Alacrity! 004. Try not to make things too graphic 005. Respect the bigger dog. 006. More rules will probably come as I see fit :P (NOTE ::: If you are caught breaking the rules once I will give you a kind reminder. Twice, and I will give you a warning. A third time and you shall be banned from the role-play for a day. A fourth time and it shall be a week. A fifth time and I'll assume you just can't learn your lesson and will have to be banned permanently. However this depends heavily on what rule(s) it is you break) Form: Name: (what is your character called?) Gender: (Male or female?) Age: (Puppy or adult?) {:; Lost Souls ;:} The Elite Lead Male: One of the two leaders of the pack. Usually the greater leader, though it depends on which of them was decided by skills, and which by both love and skills. My main objective should always be to keep the pack not only alive, not only safe, but flourishing. I will listen to any of my members to hear their ideas and concerns, but their job is to give me the respect that I know I deserve. Though I am in charge of everything, one of my specific focuses is the scouts of the pack. They report directly to me, telling me of the things they have observed in their wanderings. I try to deal with everything in a fair, yet firm manner, though as you can imagine this doesn't always happen. It's not easy, having everybody look at you to show them what to do. Neviah ({Giraffe}) -- definitely not a show dog. Nev has a long, scruffy coat, that is always sticking out in odd directions. It probably was quite soft once upon a time, but from the lack of brushing over the years it now has many thick knots. He looks something like a German Shepherd mix, since he has the markings of one. His main fur color is a nice, sandy-tan, with dark, brown patches on his back and face. His ears, however, are floppy, so it is impossible that he is a purebred. He has sparkling brown eyes, shining just a shade brighter than normal brown eyes. His build is nothing special, not too big and not too small. He is rather stocky, so his strength is definitely muscle over speed. (description) Lead Female: One of the two leaders of the pack. Usually I am the lesser of the two, though it depends on who was leader first. My job is to provide the pack with both protection, leadership, and comfort. Usually I try to take the more sensitive approach to caring for my members, though it depends heavily on my personality. I am to support the lead male in everything he does, while he does the same for me. I whelp the royal pups of the pack, the ones who will most likely take the place of my mate and I after we pass on. You must show me respect, or I shall send my Knights after you. Sadly, I am known for having affairs with the Knights, since it is my job to lead them in battle and so I get very closely... affiliated, let's say, with them. Deputy: When the leaders are away or need help doing something, I take command. I am almost always someone that the leaders have known for a long time, or at the very least would trust with their lives. This is the only way to avoid mutiny. I must be strong, brave, and a good friend to the lower members of the pack. I support the leaders in everything, and do their bidding when they ask of it. Never ask me to betray my leaders. I can be either a male or a female, though it is more common that I am a male. Delta: Often there are whispers and snickers about me to be heard. I try to ignore them and stick to my duties. I come next after the deputy, and try to serve them with everything I have. People say I am just a pet for the leaders and deputy, but I know this not to be true. Great things come from little jobs... or, at least, that's what I try to tell myself. Usually I am running around, doing small errands for the high ranks. Or, perhaps, trying to make peace with other packs. It all depends on the day. When the leaders are unavailable and the deputy takes charge, I become the temporary deputy. I usually share an opinion with the general people of the pack, so often the leaders come to me for opinions and advice. This is an especially great honor for me. Scouts: We are the paws, ears, and mouth of the pack. Most of our day is filled with walking around, making sure there are no intruders on our territory. When we do find the occasional hostile party we get into fights, and try to chase them off of our land. Because of this, not only do we need to be fast, but also cunning and strong. Though we have a special job to do, we still aren't ranked much higher than the commoners. However, since we report directly to the male leader, we are totally in there and usually have his favor. The female leader usually isn't as fond of us, since she resides over the knights, and we have a sort of rivalry going on with them. Don't get us wrong, we are a very united and loving pack, it's more of a competitive rivalry. Knights: After the scouts head off to work to find intruders, if they are especially powerful or there is a large number of them and the scouts can't handle them, we get called in. We are built thickly, since power and force are the main parts of our job. Also, the faster you are, the better. We don't want all of our scouts getting wiped out while they're waiting for us to get there. When we are not helping the scouts out we are at home, standing post by the leaders and whoever else they request be protected. And, of course, we spend lots of time with the lead female. Our boys have a tendency of getting a little too wrapped up in the attention she gives us, and so usually they end up having affairs with her and getting both themselves and her in trouble with the lead male. You'd think we'd learn our lesson. Males: Though we don't have any special ranks, we are a big part of what keeps the pack going. We pick up any small jobs that we can, and sometimes help the scouts or the knights out with their jobs. Probably the most common thing that we do would be to gather food. It sounds like woman's work... we know. But the truth is, you need to be a threat to get a decent amount of food. It is one of the most sought after things in our world, so obviously there is a lot of competition over it. Usually we don't get as much attention from the females as the knights and scouts, but we manage to hold our own. Females: Though the boys deny it, we are what keeps the pack moving. We have the power to influence the males in pretty much any way... but we'll let them think otherwise. We raise most of the pack's children, so that usually the pup hardly knows who his/her mother is, since we all try to take care of them equally. We try to be kind and caring in everything we do, but of course, there are always a few spitfires. Usually our job is to talk to one another, plan raids and such, and care for the ill. There are some of us who try to do more of the boy's stuff, and we accept that some prefer that way of living rather than the "traditional" woman. Pups: Our parents may make up the pack, but we are the pack's future. Without us we would slowly die out, leaving no traces. We tend to be a handful, but we try to remind our parents of this often so that they are more patient with us. We spend a lot of time exploring our territory, much to the adults dismay. We get in lots of trouble and unfortunately, a good portion of us don't make it. But that is life. It's sad to think that most of us have lost several good friends from various causes. Our parents try to make a lot of us, because of the fact that we aren't very durable. If there's more of us to begin with, then as we fail, we still end up with a pretty good amount. From the time we start walking we are taught different skills, with the hope that one day we will get to be a scout or a knight.
Loners: We are the mutts of the street without a family of any sort. We have no pack, no friends, no owners. The Elite run these parts, so there are not very many of us, considering the fact that the elite don't really like having too many loners running around. We try to avoid them completely, merely to avoid contention. We are usually quite meek, but sometimes you get those who think they are too good for the Elite. The reason why we don't have many is because the pack usually puts an end to them right away. No one really knows what happens exactly to them, they just disappear. We can only guess it was the Elite. Pets We are the lucky few who have tickled the humans' fancy and got to live with them as a pet. Everything we have is given to us on a silver platter, figuratively speaking. Some of us live in apartments, some of us in large town houses, and others in the suburbs. It is quite common for our owners to have pups of their own, so we get to help them raise their family. We try not to go outside too much, out of fear of the Elite, but occasionally you get those who are curious about the pack and want to see how they got their reputations. Luckily, as long as we are humble, they just make sure we don't stick around on their territory and send us home.
