Al\'s Novel

okay, there is a reason why this posted here :P

Anyways, I want opinions. If you saw this book in a book store and read the blurb, would you buy it?

""Many, many years ago, back to a time when the world was run by spirits and demons, there was a legend. A white wolf was said to be the harbringer of disaster. Each time a white wolf was brought into a village, it would later one day burst into flames, consuming all of those who lived within.

A single white wolf finds himself one day in the middle of a forest, alone and hungry. He raises himself for years before he is found by a young boy, and soon a friendship is raised. Little does the wolf know that the boy's village, led by a Spirit Witch, is hunting down the wolf after they discover his existance, and soon enough, burn the forest down. The spirits, believing that the wolf was respnsible for the burning, throw him off of a cliff and leave him alone once again. However, the wolf is not aware that he is being followed by a hunter.

Now, the boy and wolf need to find a way to reunite with each other while dealing with new and old friendships, death, and in two cases, love. But just what will they have to do in order to find each other?""

Now, thats the blurb, but if you bought the book, and found out that the two loves were between a wolf and a jackal, and two males, would you stop reading?

Or would I have to incorporate something into the blurb to make people happy?

I don't want someone reading my story and realizing that there is gay love in my story. And if I am able to get the guts, maybe even a hint of them having sex at one point...

But I want opinions -.-

OKAY clarifying: the wolf and jackal are male and female. The sex would be between the boy and the hunter, who are both MALE humans

This will be a great story i love yaoi manga i have lots at home
I've been working hard on character development recently, getting them all copyrighted soon and I edited the whole gay thing ;)

you will find out about his sexual orientation when he is first introduced after he tells another male that has no interest in women, but he finds men rather more appealing.

And the sex scene will be suggested, I won't go into anymore detail then kissing scenes and then I will cut to another character :P

I need to master doing it before I actually write it D:<
To be honest that sounds like an awesome book. But gay sex is not something i'd like to read. Just my opinion.
Psssh thought i replied to this XD

Anyways, yes, I'm actually dreaming of the day where the characters in my story end up in a doujinsihi somehow. My sister would definitely get one in secret.

But besides that, I told my friends that the one charactter was gay and they seemed spooked. :P
I would definitely buy this book! You had me worried there a little, though, when I read
"The original storyline did not have the hunter, and I was afraid that the boy would be paired with the wolf"! I love yaoi, and have several gay novels and mangas, though I have to hide them from my parents...
Thanks guys again ^^

This is a new thing for me, so I'm trying to figure out exactly how to get it down, y'know?
Nah, I like the female Jackal and male Wolf better. The gay men are good, but gay animals... just strange. I love it the way it is! XD
If my post came off as "state it in the beginning of your novel, or else" (heh) that's not what I meant at all! Like I said, it's late here, so there might be a disconnect between what I'm thinking and what actually comes out... I think if your character knows he's gay, it's important to hint (even subtly!) that he knows it and sees other men this way. If he doesn't know yet, I think Three's idea is a good one - include some form of homosexuality in the beginning of your novel, so that your readers know it's in the book.

And now I'm poofing off to dreamland. Good luck with your novel - it sounds intriguing! :)
I honestly don't even necessarily think you need to include it in the beginning, unless you believe that your character knows he is gay. If he knows he is gay, then you could have him see a male in the street or on a poster or something and think that he is beautiful or sexy or something. But if your character previously had no interest in men and then fell in love with the hunter, it honestly doesn't make sense to hint that they are going to be gay before they even meet.

A way you could bring in the homosexuality though is perhaps have a very minor character mentioned in passing be gay? For example, walking down the street one night the main character sees two men kissing in an alley or something? Then the readers will know that you embrace homosexual relationships in your writing and it will not surprise them when the boy and the hunter fall in love with each other.

Sorry if my post is kind of... erratic. :P
Roo and three, THANK YOU ^^

I will definitely take that to heart :)

I think that dropping some hints in the beginning might be a great idea and might make a structure to hold a lot of the story together.

Thank you very much ^^

I do encourage you to write more of your novel Three, I'm sure it is great :)

I think that leaving it out of the blurb is a great idea, just gotta incorporate it in the beginning somehow *thinks*
