Someone build me a new bloody world . . vent

Society needs a good kick up thebottomagain.

I want to open up a straight club, a club that only allows straight people in, entrance is judged on the night on appearance and personality alone. Thats right folks my mate was rejected entry last night into a gay night club, we had all gotten in ( me being the only gay person in the group ) but dear old Matt was to "straight" to gain entry. A lengthy "discussion" followed. Were I was lectured on everything from the gay plight right through to how straight people made it down right dangerous for gay people to be in the city at all.

Don't even think about throwing the " Gays need a safe place to party " excuse up in my face. Society is all about conforming, like it or not everyone is expected to conform in there day to day lives. Luckily for the majority of us reading this we live in a world that accepts that people are breaking those bounds and exploring outside the known ways. We may not like that people don't conform and we may not agree with it but we allow it. Regardless of how we go against the norm we are going to cop some poop for it. The whole city is a reasonably safe place to party for every single being providing of course that they conform to the generally accepted way of doing things. For instance if I was wearing flip flops, trackies and a wife beater I probably would get into some trouble with my peers and I would be denied entry into most places. The city would have now become dangerous to me. The simple fact of being gay alone does not make the city a "unsafe" place to be, it is the way some people chose to parade being gay, that may make it unsafe. This is the same for everyone regardless of gender, race, sexual preference.

But I can't open up a straight bar because you could imagine the up roar. Drives me insane and makes me ashamed to even say I am gay. Instantly I get pinned to people who are over sensitive and assume that everyone is out to get them. I am sick of walking on egg shells around people who I should be able to relate to. Being different is not going to be easy ever. Unfortunately being gay falls under the different category still. The fact we no longer get hanged or imprisoned you know excites me. Parading around what people are already uncomfortable with is not going to improve matters.

Continue opening up gay clubs, but till I can make my exclusively straight bar, do not give me a lecture on why my mate who " looks to straight" can gain entry to your club.

I... I'm actually speechless. This pissed me off. I can't understand WHY a gay club would even say that.<br>Gays are often mocked and made fun of based on appearance. They hate when someone calls another person a "$@#!*" based on how they dress... yet they denied your partner entry because of his appearance?? What the fck? It's things like this that make me really angry at the gay community [note that I am gay and in no way homophobic or heterophobic]
