Smoking.

I have been a pack a day smoker for over a year, and I just can't seem to kick the habit. I don't know why I started, but it has just become a ritual for me in the morning to go out and light a cigarette. I have tried more thank 8 times to quit, but I can't distract myself from thinking about it and then I binge, sometimes two, three packs in a day. I need some advice on how to quit.

Don't try to quit cold turkey. Very, very few people can do that.

I knew someone who smoked roughly a pack a day and they started using the E-cigarette. (It only contains nicotine. None of the other stuff cigarettes do.) They used it to gradually ween themselves off the nicotine and eventually completely quit.

Combine that with having something to put between your fingers or even just chew gum. It should help. :)
My sister quit cold turkey.

However, try limiting yourself. Try to keep yourself only smoking outside. Then, try cutting down on how many you smoke per day. Instead of smoking, have some other less-harmful-but-still-addicting things like.. caffeine.

Im addicted to caffiene, in all honesty. I'm squirming and shaking right now for some lolol :C
but I don't have enough $$

Perhaps you could think about how much $$ you could save per day to spend on cool things?
I've never smoked, but I know of a trick that's worked for other impulsive habits for me. (I know, habits and addictions aren't the same) When you get cravings, instead of smoking, do something else that you really enjoy, and only do it when you get cravings. It should trick your brain into associating the craving with the new activity eventually, instead of cigarettes.

When I was younger, I had an eraser-eating problem (I would chew on the pencils eraser until it was gone, and then start on the metal ring, and then the pencil its self.) and most of the time I didn't realise I was doing it. but when I caught myself, I'd switch to squeezing the eraser with my fingers instead, and it worked. I eventually stopped eraser chewing entirely.
What I suggest that worked well for my mother for awhile would be to wean yourself off, but to continue doing the motion of smoking, without lighting the cigarette. Keep one on you, and if you get the urge, just go through the hand motions, suck through it, ect.

EDIT: And oops, Jive said basically the same thing. Also, don't carry a lighter if you do this. xD It'll be too tempting. Thats what failed my mother.
I have been mistakenly trying to do cold turkey for three days, and I just binged like 3 packs today. I think I am going to try chewing lots of gum and the salt trick. how fast should I wean myself off of them? like go from 20 a day one week then 18 a day and so on?
I know several people who have gotten on Wellbutrin for quitting smoking. I'm pretty sure it's also used as an antidepressant.

Apparently it's highly effective for some people, and if you have insurance I don't think you'll have to pay for it.

But my dad got on it and felt like there were bugs crawling under his skin and ended up in the hospital. But he's weirdly affected by everything anyway.
You might consider getting something about the size and shape of a cigarette to hold between your fingers. That helped my mom when she was having bad cravings.

Also, don't quit cold turkey. Wean yourself and you'll be far more likely to succeed...withdrawals are nasty things and as long as you don't binge, you should be okay.

I've also heard that putting salt on the tip of your tongue when you have a craving can sort of associate them with something unpleasant. My aunt swore by that trick.
I am trying to just plain quit everything. I am allergic to the patches, and I don't want to use an electronic cig.
Have you tried those electronic cigs? Chewing gum/candies instead of smoking? Patches/Pills?
