What do you guys think of them? Good or bad? What are your opinions on people in open relationships?

This topic has been closed due to having the sole purpose of attacking and/or offending a group of people and not being an actual debate.

Ohhh yeah I get what you're sayin. Not really the sorta thing for jealous people haha.

It really depends on the "terms" of the relationship and who was involved. Like I said, I'm very prone to being irrationally jealous and overprotective...so likely not. A poly or open relationship would probably just stress me into a panic.

EDIT: "Get involved with" means date someone and have one, or do things with someone/some people who are in one.

Would you ever get involved in an open/poly/swinger relationship? Why or why not?
"Live and let live." I see no reason to even form an opinion on the morality of the situation or the "pros or cons" because it's between consenting adults, of which I am not one.

Poly is included too. & I just wanted to know what you guys thought about them.
Good/bad, pros/cons, opinions.

I really doubt you've put as much thought into the reasons nor have as much insight into the potential benefits of such a relationship as those who have one successfully. I don't pretend to know why swingers are in the relationships they are, but I doubt it's a one-size-fits-all that they're all dissatisfied with their sex lives. And especially in the case of poly relationships (which are different, so I'm not sure if they're included in your definitions), that's a really huge jump you're taking to reach that conclusion.

Honestly, this really falls into the "none of anyone else's business" category as far as I'm concerned. Who cares if that couple next door have an open relationship? And why?

I personally don't like swingers. I find it trashy but that's just my opinion.
I don't see the point in being in a relationship in an open relationship.. I think it shows lack of satisfaction in the sex between the couple.

Open relationships don't mean you just get a "cheat all you want free" card, Clayton. An open or poly relationship can still be very committed, and they take just as much (if not more) trust as any other relationship.

I, myself, know that I'm far too prone to jealousy to function well in an open or poly relationship, but that does not mean all of them are doomed to failure. I know several people who are involved or have been involved with more than one person at a time. They all have healthy, drama-free relationships. The key is communication, which is something most couples could probably stand to learn.

What about swingers?

Al, that's someone using an Open Relationship as an excuse to screw around. He would've done it regardless of it being open or not. An open relationship is about trust between two partners and a set of general rules to abide by for those going outside the relationship.

I myself am for open relationships for those who do them correctly - none of this flaunting/cheating/usingopen relationship as an excuse - and for those who are okay with it. It's not for everyone. Just like most sexual choices aren't for everyone.

I don't understand how one can be in an open relationship.
Relationships are about commitment.

Meh...I knew someone who had an open relationship. It was terrible. There wasn't a fine line between what was being considered "open" and soon enough, he was hooking up with a bunch of girls behind her back. I think that open relationships are hazardous becuase soon enough, it might just turn into cheating.

I think that open relationships should be kept for those who are unsure about their partner.
