Oooh Leopard Appy xD

So near leopard appys have parts that are solid instead of spotted?

Near-Leopard. Sorry, I tend to abbreviate markings. It's more common in Appaloosas, obviously, but here's a near-leopard Warmblood foal: Clicky.

Also, thanks to whoever fixed the thread. :P I derped out while editing it.

What is near-leo? I can't find any reference to it online? When I google "Near-Leo Horse" I get a wiki about a QH named Leo...

The marking its self looks like it's Tobiano because of the Near-Leo overlay. When you look at the individual marking on an otherwise solid horse it doesn't cross the back anywhere. :)

Thanks Doom, i was about to go find some links about that. In my equine medicine class last semester we learned that Brindle horses were Chimeras.

And wouldn't that horse be a Tobiano since the white crosses the back between the withers and rump?

I personally would play a game with RL markings that can be layered as one pleases for un natural combos with natural markings.
I honestly have never seen an appy or pinto with brindling. o.o So, that I couldn't tell you. Since no one knows what causes brindle markings, it's hard to say. But it's ordered the way it is because the horse has black points that covered the coronets and made them look dark, so I shifted the folders around.

I might consider cross-breeding in the future, but at this point, each breed has completely separate (highly expensive) artwork. I'd love some pally Arabians myself. :3

That artwork is amazing!

I think you should go for fun markings. If players want breed specific markings they could always breed for those right?

That is a very beautiful horse. I know a very similar one in RL (pony actually, but same thing).

The weirdest things exist in horse colors, same breeder had 4 ponies where the color is still given as "unknown" thanks to those weird combination. Last year they got a black/brown no white pinto with a palomino tail 0_o Might be a chimera.

I would love to play a sim with such art and mostly real genetics (as much of horse genetics are still not known).

I am not sure off hand but doesn't brindle display over everything but appy/pinto?

So, as you can't be strictly realistic, as horse genetics are often still a guessing game, I'd go with fun. And I'd definitely allow for crosses and opportunity to get cream into the arabs (even if they would need a new name, like the Creamies for the pony/arabs here). And let players make their own breed, maybe?
