I'm a little embarrassed, I am rather new here and it is the first time I've submitted a poem of mine to the site, but what the heck, here it goes.<br /> <br /> ~Love is a....~<br /> <br /> Alas, Valentines has come 'round once more.<br /> I find it paining me right to the core.<br /> <br /> Though I am single, I'm not alone,<br /> as I'm sitting here, listening, waiting for the phone.<br /> <br /> There is always my dog, man's best friend,<br /> a happy and caring companion till the end.<br /> <br /> While my ex flirted with strangers leaving me at the resturant alone,<br /> there was always that compassionate friend waiting for me at home.<br /> <br /> When she took all my money to go shoping with friends at the mall<br /> another kept me company playing tug-of-war in the hall.<br /> <br /> And when my girlfriend called me after being sent to jail,<br /> my dutiful hound sent me off while wagging her tail.<br /> <br /> Then when that woman left me saying "I need some space"<br /> a comrade woke me from my sorrow by licking my face.<br /> <br /> There is always my dog, my faithfull mutt,<br /> far more loyal than that two-timing.....what?<br /> <br /> The phone starts to ring, I check the caller I.D.<br /> My ex was calling, she was calling for me.<br /> <br /> I am about to answer when a thought rises to the top,<br /> "Hold on there cannibox, you really need to stop".<br /> <br /> "Do you actually want her back?" My anger starts to rise,<br /> but then I look down into a pair of soulfull eyes.<br /> <br /> I put down the phone and walk over to my dog,<br /> then I smile saying, "come girl, lets go for a jog".<br /> <br /> Valentines is spending time with those you love, no more no less,<br /> and who better to spend it with than who got you through this mess.<br /> <br /> Now there is something I must say, so I'll scratch that itch,<br /> "The philosophers were right, love is a bitch".

However you wish to do it is fine by us DarkFire, as long as you can link it or imbed it here. Imbedding would have to be a smaller image, linking could be any size you choose.<br /> <br /> We would prefer to have at least part of your work hand-drawn (hand sculpted, hand knit, hand whatevered) but if you would like to use a personal dog for your base image, that's okay. :3
