Alarming bone prices, a solution?
On the 11th, Kiraleeka and I are going to auction or sell our bones, at a maximum of 30K. If supply exceeds demand, it should push the prices back down. :3 Please feel free to pitch in on the 11th, by doing the same! The more people jump on the band wagon, the greater the effect should be on bone prices!
Note: Don't consider these bones discounted, consider other bones over priced!
in every sim game I've played, the payed for currency has gone up and up in price. It causes a wide range of problems for the site, including a snowball effect, of sorts. The price of the currency goes up, and in relation, the free currency goes down in value. The players who aren't already rich get frustrated with the game, and leave. New players just starting out don't stand a chance, to get ahead, or in some cases, to get by, which means they are more likely not to stick with the game. which means less people are playing to donate USD, which means the payed for currency is in less supply, specially when the player that leaves donated USD, so they could sell the payed for currency in game. This throws the supply/demand ratio further out of whack, which drives the prices up, which frustrates even more players. in the end the result is a smaller user base, and less money being donated to the site.

This will only hurt the site. Cash price for bones was increased for a reason, and people are profiting very well off of it, making obtaining bones much more rewarding. Urging people to devalue their bones is very likely to mess up Ala's economy all over again, and.. why would we want that?

People should be able to price their bones however they see fit - many of them are paying for the bones with their own real money, after all. And if it sells, then why on earth should they be told to lower prices?

Real world shop owners buy their stock and mark it up to make a profit. Alacrity bone-buyers are buying bones for USD, and marking them to around 70K to make a profit they find worthwhile. If you ask them to knock it down to 30K, they're not really making a worthwhile profit due to the current cash to bone price ratio. You wouldn't walk into a store and tell the owner to lower the prices on their items because you view them to be unfairly expensive to you, would you?

If I can make some more bones through my shop by then, then I'll be sure to contribute. And yeah 70k is hilariously over priced O_O This is a great idea! We need to do something about this before bones get out of hand like on Wajas, where the equivalent tends to sell for 3 or 4 MILLION.

Derp, bones used to cost $15,000 way back when I was a beginning player, so yeah $70K is extremely overpriced in my opinion, seeing as though Robyn herself prices bones at $25K and everybody thought that price change in the monthly shop was insane.

I think this is a great idea! I shall work on selling items to get bones to sell some!

Are you to say the way I price my bones is over-priced? I price them at 70k and they sell quickly within two days. I'm not really seeing the whole point of this, in all honesty.

Kit, it will take more bones to get items if the bones are worth less
Devaluing bones helps the site stay in existence.... how?

If you make it easier to cash in something that costs nothing for something you otherwise have to pay to get will further inhibit site funding.

This seems like something that is going to hurt Alacrity.
