Bad car accident.

Yesterday morning I was sitting at a red light when a semi carrying a gravel load turned it's wheels to the right and started to drive right into/over the top of my car. The car is now totaled, and I was almost crushed by the gravel load carrying part, it terrified me watching it scrape against my window and push it in towards me.

Luckily, the semi realized it was hitting something and started backing up. Unluckily, the semi ran from the scene of the accident, leaving me with a barely drivable (illegally so, the bumper is hanging off, missing a head light, the hood is smashed in, and the engine is acting oddly since part of it was crushed too) car. The multiple witnesses around me simply drove off when the light turned green. The police haven't found or done anything yet, and insurance has already informed me unless they do I'm screwed.

There was possibly a red light camera triggered by his driving over my car when the light was red, but unlikely. I called the Holiday Inn right next to the scene of the accident, they had no outside cameras. I've been looking through hundreds of logos, because if I saw the logo I saw on the side of the truck again, I would remember it, and we could do something about it.

Right now and yesterday I've been having long drawn out panic attacks, the terrifying feeling of almost being crushed keeps coming back.

I'm writing this up to explain what happened because kittybot insists on doing a fundraiser to help me get a new car. =/ We will be doing a Chip In event and kittybot will be drawing a fancy new item to keep accidents from occurring on your dogs, if yall could take a moment to vote in the poll that should be up any minute.

I'm eternally grateful for any help anyone can give, I hardly expect anything and couldn't ask for help myself. <3

You all are wonderful.

I am glad you are okay! This is really terrible, especially that fact that people would just drive off, and the semi did. Very terrible and extremely disrespectful/rude.. =(
Ohh my goodness Robyn, I'm so sorry! :(<br /> I really hope you find out what company the truck belong to and you get this all sorted out.<br /> I suggest doing what Larthan said. <br /> My dad drives semi, they're real scary :(
Oh Rob, I am so, so sorry. I'm glad you're not physically injured but I know the mental can be just as bad. <br /> <br /> I cannot believe these people just drove off, from witnesses to the truck driver. Take it to the news if you can, call the paper, call the local news channel. Maybe with a little luck, they can do a 30 second spot on your narrow escape and the fact nobody stayed to help, see if witnesses will come forward. (Or the donkey's rear end that did this.)<br /> <br /> People today, I cannot believe it.<br /> <br /> And do what Larthan and ShiNya suggested, Pester everyone, do not let it stop. Taking control of this situation will help with the panic attacks some and will hopefully get something done. Look for places up and down the street you were to see if they have cameras of around the time, see if you can watch the semis going and coming and catch the logo of the one that did it. And don't let your insurance company screw you over.<br /> <br /> We love you Rob, I'll be donating what I can.
It's great to know you're physically alright. I agree with Larthan.<br /> <br /> You should probably take pictures of your car as well for later reference, should you find the company that is responsible. Take pictures from as many angles as possible, perhaps even the undercarriage of the front where it was crushed and a picture from the inside where you were sitting.<br /> <br /> This way if you should need to get rid of the car, you still have evidence of the damages done. It may help, one never knows.
*hugs Rob tightly*<br /> <br /> I'm so glad you're safe and alive, even though your car is totaled. Thank God you're okay. Sounds like you're having some symptoms of PTSD.<br /> <br /> How much do you need? We'll all rally around and help you get the cash you need for a new car. I haven't been here all that long, but one thing I've noticed about Ala is that like a family, we take care of each other. We're a tightly knit group, and we'll be here to help you in your time of need.
aww i'm so sorry, god bless you
That sounds terrifying! I've never been or seen or heard an accident like that!
Rob, I know how hard the panic attacks can be to deal with. In Jan of 2006, during an ice storm, I got into an accident involving me, the semi that rear-ended me, and the truck that I hit afterwards. My car was bent beyond repair and I had no insurance. After almost an hour and a half, after all was said and one there were over 15 cars either in the ditch or involved in their own accidents within less than a quarter mile strech. Including a cop car that got hit 2 different times. It may be hard to deal with now but you can overcome your panic attacks. I know you will be ok and hold you in my heart.
Oh my god, what a horrible thing to have happen. I hope you're okay, and that they catch the driver of the semi. I can't believe people could witness that and just drive away. Police should be calling for those witnesses to come forward. It's disgusting that you could have been killed and nobody gives a darn.
Rob I'm so sorry. Best of wishes and remember Ala loves you and will always love you &lt;3
