Unorthodox Lockdown Suggestion
You know, I've been on this site for a VERY long time, playing off and on. After almost a 5 months hiatus I come back and now I can see one of the biggest complaints is the economy right now.. As a player of animal SIM games since '02, I've seen what happens to sites as they expand. I do NOT claim to know a lot, or claim to know better than you all! I may not even know how this economy is fluctuating.
However I have an idea people may hate; however, it may help people's complaints.
We could close off open registration and go to an invite type system until we are balanced again. While we are in a "closed registration" the administrators could decide what type of flush they could do to even out the economy. Perhaps a special type of custom I saw someone post here, where people use their ala cash to help give back to the economy. Perhaps account perks for people who spend their millions to gain, instead of bones.
This is just a thought after reading the poll's adjacent thread. Tell me what you think? Maybe have an idea that may improve onto mine? If you disagree let me know why. :)
Remember, be civil. Please do not be rude, nasty or redundant just to make a point. I know how strange you all might take this idea; however, I have known this type of idea to work before, so no bashing please. :)

Support C: I think restricted registration is a great idea, because it makes the process more selective but doesn't discourage everyone from joining. I don't think you should have to pay for invites, and I'd love it if everyone started off with 1, and gained, perhaps, one more every two weeks of active play?

Support!

I especially love the idea of old account auctions - I've had my eye on a couple of old "no such account" numbers that I'd love love love to spend money on >:D

Thank you guys! :)

I would completely support a 'delete account' option, and I believe that would be for the better. :) It could also flush everything to keep accounts fresh.
As well as an old account auction sort of thing.

I would agree with the small invites rule. In all honesty, there are negative parts to this, however it might also only bring on more mature audiences. It depends on how the admins want to keep this game. I enjoyed the maturity from the players for the first year I played. I have nothing wrong with the younger crowd, but being 22 I enjoy people who act around my age. :)

I like this idea a lot. I've been on for quite some time now and I've seen the community grow from a small group of constant regulars, to almost having 100 people on at once. I am worried though that there IS too many users on Ala.

If we are averaging 100 users when there are 20k users, I don't think that's good... especially if a good chunk are mods or the Alan regulars.

And nvite system could potentially be a negative as well because some people might not want to join if they have to go through the extra work.

I don't exactly know how any one would react knowing that they can easily just let anyone on.

Maybe if we adopted a system like Gryffs, in which we give users a limited number of invite and that's after theyve been playing fro a set amount of tkme, or we could have users BUY invites. That way people would be more careful with how many people they'd add. No one wants to invite someone who won't play the game, especially if they paid for it.

I like this Idea too. I would like it if Ala had a 'Delete Account' option for users to delete there own account if they dont want/can't sell there second account. They would click the botton and a adin or mod would get the message and the person that wants to delet thier accout must respond though an e-mail... or something IDK. Or if they are leaving Ala there inventory can go to the auctions. And there dogs to the pound. this would help the sever and Economy. sorry if long message

I like this idea, even if it was just say, now until end of the year. This would also cut down on the number of abandoned accounts taking up space in the database.
