I find it so sickening that so many of people think it's OMG SO HILARIOUS, DIRTY FU-CKING HIPSTERS LOLOL, when non-violent and non-threatening protesters are sprayed in the face with pepper spray. Most of the people who mock the protesters are young, uneducated or both. By being in college (and considering many of the NY protesters attend NYU, a better one than theirs) these "dirty hipsters" have already worked harder and proved themselves much more competent than the critics are. I'm going to graduate in seven years with two bachelors degrees (neither in a liberal art) and two professional degrees (JD/MBA) I don't know for a fact that I will have a job, let alone one that will justify over 100k in tuition costs (would have had a full ride scholarship to most places, but thanks to all of the right-wings wanting to cut education, of all fuc-king things, I won't get everything paid for), and neither does anyone else.
It just proves how disgustingly ignorant some people can be, to think that the world will reward you for hard work on every occasion. It wont. Eventually, they're all going to grow up and move out of their basements or shitty apartments. And they're not going to become rich or famous because they have the "work ethic" or "passion". They sure as sh-it don't have the connections. That's the way it is. These protesters are the people who are going to and have already graduated college and are fu-cking drowning in debt, and can't get a job because NO ONE FU-CKING CAN. They can't work at McDonalds because there are barely any of those jobs, either, and they do not justify many tuition rates (NYU is about 50k a year, more for grad school). There is another reason why they can't work there, and it's probably a word most people who think police brutality is funny will never hear "overqualified".
As far as the cops go, when something actually applies enough to them that they want to get up and have their lazy asses heard, they will as well be beaten down. And maybe then they will understand. I've seen nothing but complete thugs violently and needlessly attack protesters for looking at them funny, or yelling in their general direction. Since when was having a voice a crime? Why do people think those using their rights should expect physical and legal repercussions? Are we living in that much of a police state? These people are doing everyone a favor, why are so many people too stupid to realize it?
Yeah, never mind that the pepper spray they use is weapon grade and very dangerous. Lots of people got seriously sick. Police does not care. <br /> <br /> And, in case you don't know, pepper spray is super dangerous with amphetamines and cocaine. There have been too may deaths related to pepper sprays already. <br /> <br /> As for jobs, it is the same way here. I never got an internship or a steady job all my life because I was either overqualified (yeah, here they do not want to take people with good grades for low jobs lest they start to question how things are done) or physically/socially incapable of.Half my class from my year NEVER EVER got a real job after school. Was worse for girls, obviously, as at least most of the boys from that year got some form of employment for longer than a year or two. But at our last alumni meeting, even some of the have-several-degrees people were out of jobs for years. <br /> <br /> But for sure, we are just bums. No, as mentioned, my family just didn't have the connections.
I went to TeaParty.org and found a thread about OWS. Several OWS people went in and tried to have a civil conversation, all backed by facts, and how the two groups could work together.<br /> <br /> The ONLY reply any Tea Party members gave were along the lines of "HURR HURR FAG.GOTS!" "GO OCCUPY A JOB." "MORONS." "STUPID STUPID STOOOPID." and "GO POOP ON COP CARS!"<br /> <br /> *eyetwitch* <br /> <br /> .. and I totally agree about that Nit. XD
