Al needs REAL corgi help
Al's dad is perfectly okay with her getting a corgi as long as she pays for at least half of it.
Now, I need to know, if I get the dog during the summer of 2013, when do I speak to a breeder?
What do I ask?
How do I find a good one?

Why not just adopt a bunch of dogs? Lol.. if you can afford breeding and taking care of the bitch/puppies, you could afford to buy and take care of multiple adopted dogs

"I want to have a bunch of corgis some time in the future, and I want to be able to afford to keep them all, as well as have a large enough property for them. I'm not planning on doing it for selling purposes, unless its for like family, or something."

Why not rescue a family of them then? I hate to say it but if you breed and have, lets says six, puppies. That's seven dogs (puppies and bitch, assuming you bought her from a breeder.) that could have been saved from a shelter but were put down instead. (Harsh I know, but it's the truth. :/) I know not everyone wants to adopt dogs for various reasons, but why breed if you aren't doing it to better the breed somehow? Why not save lives instead?

I think perhaps you should try living on your own before you get a dog. At least until you have all your finances squared away and understand exactly what money will be going where. Living on your own is hard to do in this economy. What were to happen if your father were unable to help you? Would you still be able to keep the dog?

"I like the idea of having a family of dogs because I myself want to just live alone, no husband, no kids, etc"

Right on! I'm the same way. :P

What is the purpose of breeding your dog?
What will the dog and the breed benefit from you breeding them?

I saw your post Clay. :>

But, if I'm not planning on doing anything breeding-wise with the dog until I'm out of college and have a place of my own.

If I'm sounding like I'm contradicting myself from earlier statements, it's because my earlier posts in the thread were when I was kinda not thinking straight and was thinking promarily through excitement and not thinking things through.

**IF** I get a female, I might end up spaying her if she comes unfixed. If it's a male, I'm not going to. HOWEVER, I still plan on having more corgis in the future so I can always, POSSIBLY breed them.

I still need to speak to the breeder to see her policy on neutering/fixing the dogs. And then, when she has her next litter next year (from Fall 2012-Summer 2013), I'll probably getting a pup then. And if she has multiple litters during that time frame, I'm going to try and get oen of the later litters, so I can have it while I'm home. :/

I know there is a lot of work going on in this, and that's why I'm doing this now.

http://www.learntobreed.com/questions.html

& my thread on dog breeding in 18+ forums.
Well, right now, my dad has an entire financial system drawn up, and when it comes time to get the apartment/dog, we will find out, which percentage I will be paying.

I will be aiming for a summer job and an off campus job so that will be bringing in a decent amount of cash. And for the apartment, I'm only going to be paying anywhere from $300 to $600 in rent, depending on how many roommates I have.

I'm probably going to enter the pup in training classes during the summer depending on a. who's paying and b. how much it costs.

Now as for the breeding part I'm not going to be upset if it's neutered or spayed, or whatever. I would like an unfixed dog, but I understand the consequences of that. It's just a small note in the back of my head, really xD

Shadow, not all dogs sold by a breeder are on a pet contract, if you work with the breeder and talk to them about your plans they could sell someone a breeding quality pup and allow it to be bred.
