Dressing up your animals?

I don't agree with it, personally. I mean, sure. It's cold out, you have some dog native to a tropical climate, but you have to go for a walk. Throw a sweater on. I don't mind that. But a shirt? 'Pants?' Dog Costumes for Halloween? Really? Why! It's not like the dog is gonna get anything. Why take your dog out on Halloween. Poor thing is probably already freaked out that you forced it to wear some weird costume that is designed to make it look 'human'
Poor thing.
Anyway. Thoughts? Opinions?

That's ridiculous. Dogs don't care if they're dressed up, they don't care if they're wearing the frilliest, pinkest dress on the face of the planet.

I still say it depends on the dog. Some are okay with it, some aren't.

As for being embarrassed, well, I doubt that. Uncomfortable or anxious, yes, but your male dog isn't going to be embarrassed if you put him in a pink shirt.
dogs can see shades of particuler color but thats not what color blind meens. look at the sorce it explains it better than i can
"embarassing to the animals??? We are talking about a dog that pees on the grass in the frunt yard right?"

Hahhaa this is sooo true. Dogs don't care what they're wearing, they don't care what embarrassing or dumb things they do. I've seen a dog roll around in horse poop right in front of me.. chances are he aint gonna care if he gets dressed up like SuperMan.
& no, dogs aren't colorblind, they see in shades of blue.

"I got it, Girly girls who force the same thing on their animals even if they don't like it."

Uhmmm I'm not a girly guy and I find it hilarious to put clothes on my cats.

"Yeah im shure the dog dosent like being around with her owner all day...how bad.."

What HempDog said is true, and they also tend to have witch-nail claws because they never naturally wear down their claws on pavement. Not only that, but the people who carry dogs around tend to own the dogs as accessories, so the dogs never get to socialize properly with other dogs and turn into shaking messes. They need exercise, they need to run. Small dogs have lots of energy and will not get tired walking on a leash.
I got it, Girly girls who force the same thing on their animals even if they don't like it.
*snaps fingers* Yep. Thats it.

Whys it got to be the "girly girls" thing? Ive seen guys who dress up there pets as well.
"Yeah im shure the dog dosent like being around with her owner all day...how bad.."

It's actually really bad for the dog when owners carry them around all the time. It will often cause them to stress and shake when they get set down because they get overwhelmed. It can also make them frail if the owners don't let them run around enough. Dogs arn't meant to be an accessory, they are meant to be dogs.

I think whether or not dogs wear clothes should depend on the individual dog. I have seen some who don't mind it but some who absolutely hate it. If they hate it, don't put it on them.

I have no problem with doggles, bandanas, or crazy color collars though. Coats and booties are acceptable if the dog really requires it.
My dog is odd, he dislikes wearing bandannas, he'll try to grab and pull them off. Yet a tie doesn't bother him at all. Shirts don't bother him, he's used to weight pulling and working in a harness.
