Thread Closings
I have noticed a trend in the thread closings over the last few months. Almost all off the threads I am referring to have been closed when certain person(s) come in and starts spouting off their opinions as fact and then yelling at others and saying they are wrong when they cannot provide any proof for their own argument. (I'm saying proof, just because I think a debate should be based on facts and not just opinions.) Obviously people argue back but it tends to degrade from there into a huge bleep-fest, and the the thread being locked in the end.
Do you feel it is fair for the rest of us to have our debates shut down because certain person(s) almost always cause the thread to be closed? Why should all of us be punished and have to stop debating about something because of said person(s)? I've counted several threads thus far that this has happened in, and all involved the same person(s).
Please, please, please leave names out of this. It isn't meant to be a personal attack on anyone, but I am getting highly aggravated at more and more threads being closed because of drama that is almost always associated with said person(s). I am just curious how others feel on this topic.
I'd enjoy if you did that, Dr. It's not because you're posting "hardcore" topics. A few of these players have had more threads locked than I can count on both hands and feet.

I think it's completely unfair. I know of several people who think I'm part of the problem, but I'm, at most, the first aftershock after the initial instigation. I'm actually incredibly capable of having intelligent debates with all my arguments backed up. I do it quite often. I have several friends that I clash with on political levels and I'm quite close with them. And we have debates all the time. I can control myself.<br /> <br /> But there are several people in specific that just yell and scream and give absolutely no evidence for their arguments, which sets off calm posts in response, until they completely twist what people say and demand that they are right without even considering the opposition, in which case all considerations and kindnesses are out the window already. After enough time of this, it sets off one or two users who set up the aftershocks of their posts, which in the end causes pretty much all of the users in the thread to go insane and start screaming.<br /> <br /> God, I kind of think this post made very little sense.XD I was a bit distracted while posting this. But...oh well.XP

Jambers, this post is not about anyone in particular and I should know since I posted it. It's about whether or not everyone on these forums should have to suffer for the actions of a few. Please contribute to the conversation or step out.
Jambers, the rule you posted doesn't apply here by its description.<br /> <br /> <br /> You may not make passive agressive posts about them, either.

<i>"Harassing of any kind (this includes but is not limited to: badgering for prices or items, as well as name calling or general repetitive undesired communication) will not be tolerated on Alacrity. It is not aimed at or about anyone in particular, it is purely out of curiosity if it is fair to the other players that everything continously be locked due to the actions of a few or if those few should be removed for the good of the forums. If you wish to debate this, please do. Do you feel the forums should be a free for all, or do you think constant trouble makers should be removed so the rest of us can continue a debate in a civil manner?

Jambers, the rule you posted doesn't apply here by its description. No names have been used, and I'm sure even though you seem to think so, this doesn't only address one person. Please either contribute something relevant or ignore the thread. Thanks.

It's completely unjust. I'm sick of moderators tossing out punishments in every direction, and closing threads in replacement of actually punishing the guilty party(s). There is no accountability here, and many times you can't even defend yourself without being "guilty". <br /> <br /> I don't want to start up with the petty "well <i>they</i> started it!" argument but I think it definitely in some cases needs to be considered. <b>Especially</b> in cases where it is well known that there's a primary instigator or two against nearly everyone else in the thread.<br /> <br /> Something needs to be done. /Yesterday/.
