Economy fix brain storm.
This board is for sharing ideas on how to fix the alacrity economy.
Here are some basic goals we need to work twards:
1. Decrease the amount of ala-cash that is already in circulation.
2. decrease ala-cash bone value.
3. decrease flow of ala-cash into the game.
4. find a system that will self-balance over time.

Ahh, now I see what you're saying. How would we do that without making everyone poor though?

The Cash Boutique is a horrible idea for that, because the money just disappears. Then in the end, practically everyone is penniless. There's no redistribution. No one benefits, really.

Except maybe Ala, but that's a crappy way to try for a profit.

Clumps meaning all gathered in just a few places. money, when you have enough of it, and know how to use it, forms a snowball effect, where more money gathers even more money, and then that gathers even more money. we need to encourage the 'rich' to invest their ala cash in such a way that doesn't result in more money for them.

What do you mean by it being in "clumps"? (Sorry. Been baking since six this morning. I'm a little worn out. x.x)

Nitrous, I don't know for sure, but it looks like the ala-cash is mostly in large clumps. in most games, currency has a gravity like effect.

As for bank interest, I don't like the idea of getting rid of it entirely, but a system where higher amount of cash = lower % interest would definately help.

How would making players even poorer help the economy? Some players can't afford basics (food/grooming) now. Just imagine if you took away even more money.

If they want to reduce the amount of cash in circulation, ALL prices must significantly drop. "Luxury" items included. And you can't make everyone poorer first, it has to start with a price drop. I don't think that reducing the amount of currency in game is even necessary. We just need to get the price bones are selling for, and many items back down.
Here's a thought, JUST FOR NOW, to get the money low.

1. Make it so that any auctions/sales can't go higher than a certain price, and make earnings smaller - just until the large money flow decreases.

2. 40k for 1 bone?! Yeah, that needs to be lowered too! This goes a long with #1 - Auctions and sales can't go past a certain price.

3. Take away the bank... Or at least it's interest. That's certainly causing more money flow.

4. I support Thy's idea.

This is an intriguing idea, Thy. There are aspects I like about this, but also those that I don't. If we implemented a system like this, what would become of the ever coveted double bone specials? And what about the excitement of a site wide triple bone special? While I understand that these things play into inflation in some regards, they are exciting for members. If I'm understanding you correctly, we would have to eliminate these altogether?

My first idea is one robin and/or the rest of the staff may not like, but it might fix the bone inflation problem for good.

I don't know how to word this, so I will just give an example.

When the ala-cash price for bones,(averaged from recent prices in the auction house.) gets to high, the USD price would fall, so that more bones flow into the game, and push the ala-cash prices back down. the reverse would also be true, when bones become cheap, ala-cash wise, the USD price would rise, to discourage more bones coming into the game. the staff will have to decide what ammount of alacash is equal to a dollar, and how much they are willing to let the USD price of bones 'flex'.

Also, so that the game doesnt break entirely, the sale of bones outside of the auction house would have to be against the rules, so that a true average price can be figured.

The USD value of bones would have to be re-calculated quite frequently, either daily or weekly.

This idea would also depend on keeping the in-circulation amount of ala-cash in check.

Feel free to elaborate on this, or point out any flaws. :3
