Creation Vs. Evolution

So which do you believe in? Why? And can you back up your claim? I may poke my nose into this debate later. ^^ NOTE: As the mods have said before, keep this friendly. I really don't like seeing people bashing each other. It's not nice. And it's not polite. Use common sense.

I believe in the theory of evolution. It is shown many times through history and with us, along with Dinosaur bones.

However, we don't have ALL the information to make this theory even more concrete.

And on another side note, the theory of evolution doesn't go against the theory of creation either. God could have easily made the first microscopic beings who which then he put in a system of evolution so he could go back to better timely matters like watching Family Guy. Evolution and God don't always clash against each other. It can easily go with each other and I'm willing to support that God had some making in it.

I'm a science nerd, trust me, but right now we don't have enough evidence to proof that it's creation or evolution so I'm willing to believe so far, until further evidence proves either one, that God simply created an Evolutionary system.

I'm an evolutionist.
I don't agree with the big bang theory though.

I seriously don't know. If it was evolution then i believe God let it be like that if it was creation then thats God anyway :)

Ohh and WWAAAYYY!! back to the starving people in africa(hehe) maybe God wanted to test the richer to see if they would show compasion and "love their neighbor as their self"

I really don't know about the Big Bang Theory either! I mean how can there be nothing then something?
There is some evidence of monkey/ape/gorilla(watever you want to call it)-human creatures. There have been different bones(yes bones can give evidence xD but please don't make me go find it) from human-primate creatures from different time periods. Ex: primate having humanish face and walking crouched over. Then primate having even more humanish face and almost walking totally strait. but that doesn't mean every creature turned into a different one.

Lol then I'm a bad Christian. O.o

The Bible may not change, but it has been proven wrong. Originally, "good Christians" believe the earth was flat. "Good Christians" believed that the sun revolved around the earth, not the other way around.

I believe in creation, thus I am a creationist, Since I'm a church goer I believe in creation. Creationizm is not forced upon me, it just makes tons more since to me.

I also do not believe in millions of years, if it where millions of years we would have died out already.

Oh! and science is not 100% true. take the meat and the maggot example, believed for years that maggots came from now where till it was proven wrong. Same with all science, nothing we know is 100% true. Is the chair solid or unsolid, well it looks solid, but not at the atom level... If there are atoms(I think there might be something like it). Science is like the other person said, a theory that is continuously changing. The bible never changes, (or should never change as long as them pipsquiks stop changing it). I mean who really thinks behemoth is an aligator? not on this planet its not.

These are stricktly my belief, I'm not trying to fight anyone. ;)

Well, Creation is Religion, and Evolution is Science. Religion is what you believe, and science is what you know.

Being hypocritical to what I just said: ahem, Big Bang Theory.
It's just the most accepted idea of how the earth started.

Personally, I don't care where we came from, I care where we're going.

Biology nerd here. I've actually read most of the Origin of Species. :V It was good.

I'd like to mention that Evolution is still a theory. Not a fact.
As we learn new facts the theory changes. The theory changes to suit the facts.

Creationism is not a scientific theory. But is, instead, a religious based belief. It does not change as new facts appear and instead twists facts to suit it.

So...my point is...I don't know. Just wanted to throw that out there.

I believe in evolution and have a DarwinFish necklace. :V

I just want to state this real quick: Believing in evolution does not mean you believe the Big Bang Theory. Honestly, I think the Big Bang Theory is a load of crap, but I believe in evolution, without a doubt. Yes, the evolution of humans and all other animal species was nudged in specific directions by the God and Goddess, but none of the changes happened rapidly.

I personally believe Jehovah created man, because a smarter being had to have created the less inteligent man. although, I know that the creation theory isn't any better than evolution, because according to evolution, the gases that collided to create a big bang that made the planet have always been there, but the creation theory states that god has always been there. Neither one is a better idea, although most people do still have their beliefs.

Well, i think that it might be possible each couldve happened, since 'seven days' doesnt necessarily mean seven days, it couldve happened as evolution. And maybe Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden for billions of years, who knows? And maybe their children had children with the people who evoluted!

What many people seem to miss understand is that evolutionist scientists don't say humans evolved from monkeys, they say humans and apes (and even further back other primates, monkeys and lemurs) have a COMMON ancestor. To say we evolved from monkeys is to say monekys and apes have not changed/evolved for millions or billions of years.

07-26-2010 at 1:13 AM
Haha XD Forgot to mention that, Merle. I was in no way saying I believed we evolved from monkeys. O.o I was speaking of how like, the earth developed...

Yes, that is very true. But, there is the difference between creating a painting/book and creating an entire universe. I would know, I'm a writer and an art lover. And a writer or painter cannot create anything near as complicated as the heavens and earth. Yes, writers and artists commonly create their own worlds. Like in His Dark Materials, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc. All different worlds created. And artists have often created their own animal species, in all their complexities. But we still have a base for our creations. We know that gravity exists. We may create an entire medieval world overrun with strange creatures, creating our own continents, etc. But we know that certain things are there. We know that gravity holds us on the earth, we know that our specific atomsphere is what keeps us alive, and so on. But the actual creation of the heavens and earth would require the creation of every single scientific theory. The creation of gravity, etc. I don't believe in the Big Band, persay, but I don't believe that God just waved his hands and everything appeared. I believe that the earth and heavens were created by the God and Goddess, but things were left alone to develop. Things evolved from inferior life forms, then split off into their own different groups and species.

What makes sense about evolution? God used amn to write the Bible by telling them what to write. God made MAN, not gorillas or whatever. Proof: (Genesis 1:27) "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." (Genesis 5:1) "This is the written account of Adam's line. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God." (Deuteronomy 4:32) "Ask now about the former days, long before your time, from the day God created man on the earth; ask from one end of the heavens to the other. Has anything so great as this ever happened, or has anything like it ever been heard of?" GOD IS NOT A GORILLA, MONKEY, ETC!

Creation. The Bible says, very clearly- in fact, it's the first sentence in the Bible- "In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth." Think about this: everything has its creator. A painting is PAINTED by its creator, there wasn't a BOOM and it appeared. A story is written by the author. A soda can is made in a fcatory. So the Earth could not have been made by a boom. I am, by the way, a Christian.

I believe in Creationism, obviously. I must add, however, that Creationism has many different... Ah... Variants? For example, there is one view that corresponds with some parts of the evolution theory, namely how the earth has existed for millions of years, or whatever the evolutionists say (yes, I should do more research in that area). Some believe that the time period between the first few scriptures in Genesis are actually millions of years. Since the Bible doesn't specifically say anything to disprove that, it's a valid as any Creationism opinion. Anyway, I don't believe this was mentioned....

I believe in Creation. Sure, things HAVE evolved but not the way many scientists beleive. Things were set in motion at a certain point. Humans were humans and monkeys were monkeys. (If you believe in the great flood) Let's take monkeys for example. How many different species of monkeys(and apes) are there in the world? They were not all there 3000 years ago. Things have changed. Also, go to a renound scientist and ask him if something can come from nothing. He WILL say no. So, how did that scientific Big Bang come to be? It didn't. Simple. There HAS to be a higher plane of existence (I call it GOD) Someone had to create the universe. Something can't come of nothing. For the record - I'm Morman.
