What Happens After We Die?
Started By
What do you think will happen to YOU once you stop breathing? Hell, heaven, space, other dimensions, etc. - where will you go? But wait.. will we actually "go" anywhere? There is an opinion (or a fact?) that humans dont have souls at all... Your opinion. I want it. Disrespect, bashing and etc are not wanted, sorry :)

This is actually a pretty scary debate for me. It confuses me about dying. I am not religious, but the reason I believe their is a heaven is that there must be something after this life, otherwise do we just dissapear? What a waste!

I'll begin to worry about where I'm going after death... afterwards, giving that there's anything left of me to care.

If there does happen to be something like heaven awaiting me when my head hits the grave, so be it. That sounds fun. I'l float around and eat fluffy clouds until I get fat and rain on people. Or something like that. Looking at the 'Atheism vs Christianit' thread... no imagination? I just don't want to restrict my imagination by people telling me that no, in heaven, you can't eat the clouds. It's my heaven, bugger off.

I also don't even want to guess what would happen if there was no heaven; souls are interesting, unexplainable things. I'm not a believer in ghosts or the paranormal that much either. If I had to choose between kicking around as a 'ghost' or... doing whatever else, I'll choose the whatever else, it looks more fun.

And jeez, I swear, if any of you suggest I can't get into my heaven because I'm atheist, I'll eat clouds anyways to spite you. ;)

xoxo

As for my post on this, I think that once you die, you'll go /somewhere/ I'm not saying heaven or hell. But someplace.
lol.
I don't know x]

Keep it clean guys ;)

I believe that when we die, we're dead. My belief: The dead are concious of nothing at all.

To quote - “To a well organized mind, death is the next great adventure.”

I'll find out when I get there.

I'm not sure. I do not think there is a way to be sure. I hope for an afterlife. But that might be wishful thinking.

When I die

I die

I'm satisfied with that

05-19-2010 at 12:31 PM
I believe that once you are dead you are dead. End of story. Full stop.

I fully believe I will go to Heaven, because I'm a Christian and believe in Jesus and I've done everything.

I fully believe in the afterlife. All my life I have been taught the ways of the Jehovah's Witnesses, until I came out of that religion and sought my own truth. Perhaps it is still partly from the way of the Witnesses, but I believe that once we pass on, and that final breath is taken, we are sent either to heaven or hell. If we are given the honour of heaven based on our acts in life, someone from that life will come to meet us and guide us to where we are meant to go. I also believe that once there, we are given a choice: to remain in heaven, or to come back as a new life and begin the process again. Or, depending on the circumstances, to be allowed the right to wander between both plains.
On September 21st 2007, my fiance Dave was stabbed to death by his ex-girlfriend. I saw him in the morgue after the autopsy, and knew that I was seeing only what was left of what had carried his soul for the last 34 years of his life. The first few weeks after his death, I spent a lot of time sitting in the park with my dog. I sensed him a lot, smelled him more anything, and I knew that he will be with me until the day I die, and it will be him who comes to lead me where I am going next.
There will always be people who say that this is the only life, and that is their right to believe in that. But for people like me, who know and feel things that shouldn't be possible, it is a light of hope in the despair of losing a loved one.
I don't fear death, it is only one part of this existence we lead.

Wow, I rambled forever xD

PikaDiety and 7Deadly$ins, if you would like to discuss this further, please PM me. I'm not trying to hide and cower. I have the answers to your questions, but I feel this debate is going to turn into an all-out war if we don't stop. All you're doing is attacking me and questioning me. State your own beliefs. If you have a question about what I believe, you want to bash me, attack me, etc. then please do so in a PM. I will not lower myself to a level of immaturity on a public board. And besides, the mods have said not to fight.

Thanks! :)

So since babies don't know right from wrong they get to go to heaven, but since people living in places where they will never hear about God but worship a "false god" and don't ask God for forgiveness, what, they're just screwed since they aren't babies?

This. I have never understood this; it makes no sense to me. o.o

My own beliefs? Not a clue. I'll find out when I'm dead. If I was really, really pressed to say, I would say something along the lines of reincarnation, but I don't believe that any more than anything eles when if comes down to it. As for Heaven, I think that if it exists, the God who is supposed to be so benevolent and forgive sinners so gladly will be able to figure out which people are the truly good people, and will let them in.

*shrug* I haven't got much to say, really. That's about it. *bows out*

"God says that those who aren't saved will think that what I say is foolishness."

So, because God is a hypocrite, I don't understand what you're saying? The Bible is full of hypocrisy. One minute it tells us, "Love thy neighbor" and "Thou shalt not kill". And the next page it tells us, "Stone anyone who does so and so." Which means that that sinner who got stoned COULDN'T repent, because they were dragged from their home and brutally killed.

And if he loves us, there wouldn't be a hell.

In my beliefs, the God and Goddess love us, and would never force us to suffer eternal damnation. They are upset for our murders and the wrongs we do, but they wouldn't send us to hell BECAUSE they love us.

05-18-2010 at 12:43 AM
See, this is why I could never be Christian. If God actually loved us or gave a [Censored] about us, he wouldn't send us to hell just for not believing in him.

This is where you're wrong. It's not just "believing" that gets you into Heaven. If you read the Bible, no one who just believes gets into Heaven. It's NOTHING you can do on your own that will get you to Heaven. If Jesus had not died on the cross, we'd be hopeless sinners without a way to Heaven. Jesus paid the price for our sins, so we -could- go to Heaven.

You must realize everyone, even me, is a wicked, horrible sinner. It doesn't matter if you murdered someone. If you just told a little white lie, you're a sinner, and you need the Lord to save you. If you don't repent of your sins, and ask God to forgive you, you will go to Hell.

To answer your question about little babies when they die, PikaDiety, they do not go to Hell. Babies, when they're born, do not know right from wrong. They are innocent. That does not mean that they are sinless. They are sinners, but because they can't tell right from wrong, aren't aware that they are sinners, they'll go to Heaven when they die. When babies grow up, come to an age where they understand what salvation is, and understand that they need the Lord as their Savior, they'll be held accountable for themselves. If they don't repent and trust Christ before their time is up, they'll go to Hell.

It's not that God is mean and nasty and wants to send people to Hell. It's just the opposite. If you read back in Genesis, it was man who cut off the relationship between humans and God. So God sent Jesus to pay for our sins. If Adam hadn't eaten of the fruit that God had told him not to, we wouldn't be where we are today. God loves us, and wants us to go to Heaven, but He can't allow sin into Heaven. He is a perfect, holy, righteous God, and sin is not allowed into Heaven. Therefore, God sent Jesus to pay for our sins, and when we ask Him to save us, he comes into our heart, and clothes us with His own righteousness.

I know a lot of you are like, "You sound like an idiot." I know. It's to be expected. God says that those who aren't saved will think that what I say is foolishness. So be it. But just because a person doesn't think what I say makes sense, doesn't mean it's not true.

I will not argue the point of animals not having souls. I know that they don't, and as much as I'd like to believe that my cat will go to Heaven, I must face the reality that he won't. But be assured that God -does- have animals in Heaven. All who believe in Him, trust Him as their Saviour, will get to ride white horses one day. So yes, there are animals in Heaven. :)

I believe I, as an individual, will go to Purgatory since my soul will not be pure enough to go to heaven yet when I die.

05-17-2010 at 10:45 PM
"You can only get to Heaven if you've trust Christ as your Saviour. You may not like hearing this, but anything good you've done is worthless in God's sight."

See, this is why I could never be Christian. If God actually loved us or gave a [Censored] about us, he wouldn't send us to hell just for not believing in him.

Anyways, I believe that everyone goes to Heaven. No matter what they did as a human, they will eventually get into Heaven. Now, for some people, I think will remain as ghosts or spirits on the earth for a while until their goals have been fulfilled or they have passed on the message they were meant to pass on.

My image of Heaven is one big landscape with white doors that lead off into different rooms. Whatever you want is in those rooms. If you want to sleep or just lay on a bed in there, there's a bed in there, if you want to read a book you love, there's that book and a comfy chair. It varies by day. And you can be alone in that room, or you can go into the landscape and meet with people.

I think the landscape changes everyday as well, and you don't see anyone you don't want. If I don't want to see my next door neighbor, I don't have to see them.

I also believe animals have souls and will be in Heaven. No matter what. Because they CAN'T do wrong, animals will be there LONG before us.

Yeah, my beliefs are strange, but I love them.^-^

Now, my beliefs on the afterlife back when I was Christian:

I believed in Heaven. I thought that there may have been a Hell at one point, but since all of our sins were forgiven, it was no longer in use. No one was there because everything was forgiven. My beliefs on heaven were similar.

And I'm curious, you say that you only go to Heaven if you believe in Jesus? What happens to the babies who CAN'T believe in Jesus because they are too young to have their mind and conscience fully developed? Based on your statement, they go to Hell because they don't believe in their "Saviour". Those are the reasons I could never be Christian, because nothing makes sense and everything is so contridicting.

I really don't believe in anything but Reincarnation.

If you are a good person, you will be reincarnated into a human; thats if you are like, someone who saved lives or something.

If you are a terrible person, you end up a bug. There, since bugs do nothing but eat other bugs and pester people (sorreh bug lovers xC) you have no choice but to be reincarnated over and over. Thus how bugs multiply when you squish them.

If you are sorta in-between, not enough to be a human, but out of bug zone, if you are sorta on the good side you'll become one of your favorite animals. If you're on the bad side, you'll become your worst nightmare.

Nobody taught me this- I was thinking about it one day and it made perfect sense- that's why the cycle of life and death keeps going, how people have kids and animals have babies- you have to be reborn. There is the same amount of "souls" (if you could call it that xD) on earth as even when it first started. And after all, its what I believe. Isn't that how all great cultures got started?

I'll probably end up as a cat, personally- I haven't done much to help the community but I didn't rob any banks, either :P

I'm really bad at explaining things but here we go.

I believe the majority of animals (and yes Humans are animals) have souls, but the way I see it its a form of energy that gives life and awareness of the world beyond pure instinct. But when you die I do not believe there is a separation in the afterlife, and since souls are energy i believe that eventually that energy is recycled and thus reincarnation. But also being agnostic I believe I could be wrong, so....who knows.
