Frisbee Game Changes!

Posted by

Okay, my dears, I know this will upset several people, but just today I realized just how much the Frisbee game was hurting our economy. In one day, frisbeeing all my own dogs, I was able to earn enough to purchase a background from the Monthly Shop. :C So it isn't any wonder that this has been a contributing factor to our financial troubles.

Winnings have been lowered to a random possibility of $20-$200 per turn, and each dog will now get 3 turns each per day.

We also discovered that the energy take was bugged. It has always been listed on the game page that each turn was supposed to cost 10 energy. Instead, it was only taking 5. But since we've lowered payouts and turns, we'll adjust the page to reflect the take of just 5 energy.

The last thing we want to do is upset people, but this is a feature of the site that has been grossly unbalanced for a long time, and rather than prolong it, I feel we needed to fix this ASAP. We hope everyone will understand that this was a change we absolutely had to make, in the interest of our struggling on-site economy. There was simply way too much cashflow, in large part due to the payouts of this single game. :C

I like this change. It makes me value my virtual money more.

I just want to place a few comments that are on my mind. They aren't really complaints but they aren't really "Yay I'm in love with this change."

I've been on Ala for a few months now and have gotten to test alot of things out and form some opinions.

First off, I agree with the recent change to take out free pay options from the cash shop. It never made since to me in the first place. How is the site expected to make money if there is no incentive for members to pay in?
I of course don't think anyone should be forced to pay in to play but support the change to make the monthly shop a real cash shop.

I also agree that the frisbee game up to now has been paying way to much out for the effort it took. However I believe the fix is an over correct, specially considering since after this month the monthly shop will no longer allow ala cash, it solves the problem of the cash flow problem to a degree, and somewhat takes care of the inflation. However it makes it hard to trial if there is no money to trail with.
For me who has a good back drop of money from my past gaming it's not that much of a problem.
However my friend who just started is already as a huge disadvantage now.
She doesn't have the dogs to play frisbee with, doesn't have the money to trial with or to buy new good dogs, unless she spends real cash.
My suggestion is after this month is over to perhaps bring the earnings up a little probably to 500 maximum. At least til some of the inflation comes down.
That or take away the cash buy option now.
Why bother letting it linger around, unless it's because you're still playing with the code.

In my opinion you have ripped off the frisbee game like one would a band-aid, however, with the monthly shop your are slowly and painfully taking it off.
Why not fix both at the same time so as to make the lose easier?

I know it's going to make people upset either way, but this game is awesome. The staff is crazy good, and either way this game must be put on crutches until the money wound can be healed.

I think us older players understand, specially since we all run real lives and know that sometimes we must go with out to fix the bigger problem. It's hard but I think it would make us better if we could fix the cash flow problem as well as make it manageable for people to make a "living".

I can't even play the fridge game on my kindle fire so it doesn't affect me

March Monthlies!

(Monthly Banner collaboration between Xylax and Rabby!)

It's that time again, Alacrites! And we have a pretty big announcement to make. This will be the last month that items from the Monthly Shop will be available for cash purchase. Come April, they will be for bones-only.

Now before anyone gets upset!! We are doing this for a number of reasons. For one, the art team will be producing slightly fewer Monthly Shop items, which means the number of things to collect will be easier to manage with bones. This also frees our artists up to do more items for the Main Shops! As well as other projects we want to tackle that require the talents of the art team. We must also be straight-forward with our users. Alacrity has put so much focus on making all of gameplay obtainable/playable with no need for donating, on top of the on-site economy problems, and it's just spelled very bad news for us financially. :C We simply can't afford to let our special Monthly Items go for cash purchase any longer. However! We will be making some changes in the near future and adding other cash sinks to help get the cash economy under control! So don't y'all worry about that. We know this won't be the most popular change for all of you, but we hope you'll understand why we needed to do it. And in the long run, it actually means more cash content for everyone! And further growth of the site, because the art team won't be so bogged down just with Monthly Shop items.

With that out of the way, we hope everyone will enjoy this month's theme! The art team had a blast with this one! And be sure to keep an eye out for our random event! Be careful where you step, or you might squish a beneficial little friend!

We've also brought back the most coveted item on Alacrity; the Magical Water Bowl! You can purchase it on the Donation page! This item is especially useful for some of those TP monster dogs out there, so grab it while you can!

I honestly haven't seen any comment that wasn't civil, yet people are saying others are overreacting or making claims on here when I haven't really seen any? Can we tone down on saying people are 'overreacting' and saying people are calling the site 'money hungry'? I'm not really seeing any of that on this news post or on the debate board. People have been pretty nice with their posts and they are allowed to have opinions. :/ Just my train of thought on that. I already stated myself that I'd wait to see what happens ^^ and that I'm not totally against it.

I just hope the bone prices go down in the shop,

For anyone complaining about the price of bones:
Right now, they are pretty high, yes, but like Xy said, they are NOT USD.
I admit that I've had quite a bit of luck with me, but I've had about 100 bones on me total, without ever paying ANY cash. I'm just a regular, active user. Just to clarify the fact that you seriously don't need any money to play this game, even if you want those customs and monthly items.

I understand that the site needs to handle finance... but I was on another site that was free... and then it went pay-to-play. The amount of members that left was massive. Absolutely huge desecration of member accounts.

Regardless, I understand on the bones switch over… however can you make the prices so that they aren’t as absolutely ridiculous?

Dang, it's over at mid-night :/ Thanks for this event, though! It was very fun!
