Glitch Fixes, New Breeding, and Ghost Dogs!

Posted by

(#Aadyn) on Jan 13, 2011
There have been a few things going on with doggies recently. Many of you have posted in the issue hub about a long string of code on your dogs. If this has happened to you, please go over to this forum and repost the dogs in question. Include a link to your dog's page.

There has also been a change to the breeding script. To make it more realistic, the smaller breeds (shelties included) now can have between 1-3 pups per litter, and the larger breeds will have 2-4 pups per litter. There will also no longer be any glitched litters where you receive the wrong amount of pups, or have an unending breeding. The third change to the breeding script is that you may now pass along the custom glitch of having over/under 100/0% opacities to pups, if you wish. There will be a check box under the stud request, so you can decide if the glitch will be passed on or not.

Lastly, I'm sure you all will have noticed the "ghost dogs" that have been being born recently. This glitch is now fixed, and no more of these dogs will be born. This means that the ghost dogs in existence are rare, and no others will ever be born like them. The glitch with this is that the pups were born without a base coat, giving them a transparent look. If you do not want to keep your ghost dog, you may request it to be fixed in the issue hub. :)

I think its good because it helps kennel space.

I think it's realistic in a way for small dogs. They in RL usually don't have many. My dog was born from a 7 puppy litter, he's a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. The breeder told us they were lucky that time since most of their litters only had 4 pups with the same two dogs. It's definatly realistic considering that Labrador Retreivers in RL have 6 or more pups I've seen some with 10. So since no one could care for that number of pups, they don't have large litters (on Ala) If small dogs had 2-3 or 2-4 the Alacrity economy would be out of order. Seeing that small breeds (not including the Sheltie) are not in demand, they should not have as many pups. Larger breeds are in very large demand and want. So if small dogs had more pups it would throw of the breeding system by a lot. Seeing not many want small dogs.

ya i agree about only 1 pup for smaller breeds. i Know this wouldnt hel the whole to many dogs and breeding thing but actually realistly aussies have about 7-8 pups per litter. my cousins breed them and usually get between 5-8. But i defintly wont be breeding any of the smaller breeds if i might only get 1 puppy

you have the lyrics wrong, it's "cut short, and tail cut long" not "so short, and so long"...just sayin...unless it's supposed to be mistaken..who knows with riddles.

I tried to vote on the poll while on the Riddler page and it took away one of my chances. :(

Hello Alacrites, this is Dene (#-13).
As some of you may have noticed, there is a new edition to the right sidebar, titled "Help Chance!"
Chance is my RL dog who needs to have a rather expensive surgery, to fix his left back leg.
He got out on New Year's Day and when we got him back on the second (a very nice lady called and told me she had found him) he was not walking on his left back leg at all, likely hit by a car.
We got him to the vet on the third and the vet did a physical exam when she moved and felt his leg. She told us that is could be a fracture or he could have torn his CCL, and that they needed to do x-rays. To do the x-rays, they would need to sedate Chance.
After consenting to the sedation and x-rays, we had to wait. If you've ever had to wait in a vet's or doctor's waiting room, you know how hard it is to just sit there, not knowing what's going on. Fortunately, the whole process did not take very long and we were soon called into a room to see the x-rays and speak with a vet (not the same one who examined Chance).
It was the CCL and it was torn completely in half. This is not visible on x-rays, because the CCL is not a bone. xP But the x-rays show that nothing is broken, but the femur is sliding. Without correction it can continue to slide and will cause pain.
There are a few different options as far as surgery, but from the opinions of two vets and my own research, Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) is by far the best option for a dog of his size (big) and activity level (very active).
The surgery will cost upwards of $3,000. There is no way my boyfriend and I can afford this on our own. The vet said we have about six weeks before it will get too much worse, but it is best to act as soon as possible.
The entire knee-area of his left leg is inflamed and swollen. The vet sent us home with some pain pills that are also an inflammatory, and a whole lot to think about.

I am reaching out to you, the awesome people who love dogs as much as I do.
Chance really needs this surgery, and I am asking for donations made through Alacrity. Anyone who donates $25 or more will receive a special Chance companion, as well as bones for the amount donated.
This companion is not only the most adorable thing on Alacrity (in my very biased opinion), it has quite an awesome effect on your dog (no doubt courtesy of the real Chance's epic awesomeness).
If your dog has this item equipped, its puppies will be very special. The Chance companion adds a 15% TP increase to litters. You can also equip to both a male and a female to see a double increase! Speaking of which, the breeding script has been fixed and should not glitch anymore. It has been coded so smaller breeds can have 1-3 pups and larger breeds 2-4, to resemble real life. But you should no longer have any bugs with it or neverending script loads.

The Chance companion will only be available until the end of January.
If you have already donated, and wish to donate more to qualify for a mini-Chance, message Robyn and let us know! The money you already donated can count towards the $25.

Anyone who wishes to donate less than $25 will receive eternal gratitude courtesy of Chance, Glen, and I.
We all appreciate this more than words can express.

If you are not able to donate, we also appreciate spreading the word.
Post the link on Facebook, or anywhere else you can think of (as long as it is allowed)!
Every little bit helps tremendously.

Chance does accept snail mail, message Robyn (#1) for details.

Again, thank you all very much.

I leave you with a picture of Chance before he was injured:

I'm probably going to sound rude here but just now that I feel for you & I hope Chance does well with his surgery. <br>I don't think it's really.... humane to keep a dog outside all the time. Especially after his surgery, he should be kept inside, not outside in a kennel/doghouse but that's just my opinion.

Dene, I am so sorry for Chance, you and your boyfriend. I know the must be a hard time for you all. I own two labs, and one of my yellow ones is getting very old, with joint prolems. I fear that she migt not make it very much longer. Anyways, my thoughts go out to your family, and I hope everything goes okay with Chance's surgery and his recovery. *HUGS* Gobulldogs

"There is no need for you to critisize dene's dog owner potential." I'm not criticizing, it's simply a thing you have to be sure about before doing a surgery like that. It's called "compliance" and it's the first thing a doctor should consider when suggesting a procedure instead of another. Anyway I think your vets will give you enough instructions before doing the surgery.
