Dinah sighed. "She'll be fine. Cobalt will never catch on. She'd better watch it with the fibs though. She'll have the pups thinking it's okay." Realizing that she was talking to herself, as Kendra's feet were twitching and she was growling softly in her doggy dreams, Dinah stood up, shaking the leaves from her coat, and wandered away, deeper into the woods. Her paws made no sound on the leaf-strewn forest floor, and she listened to the sounds of Frappe and Cobalt's play-fighting fade away in the distance and be replaced by the sounds of wind, birds and trees. She breathed in the scent of the woods and caught the scent of another dog-- far stronger than if she was just smelling the trial dogs on the shifting breeze. She froze for a moment, then decided that if the other dog wanted to greet her, it would, and she continued on her way.<br /><br />Meanwhile, Cobalt was getting more and more leaf-covered as Frappe continuously knocked him over. Finally she pinned him and he whined piteously, showing his teeth in a submissive grin. "Oh please don't kill me, Alpha. I'll be good, I promise!" he joked.
"Hah, he sure is silly and acting like a pup. And Frappe is going to dig her self into a hole of lies and not be able to get out at this rate" Kendra giggled some and then sighed. "I'm glad she'll be okay" Kendra glanced at Sheena. "I'm tired too I think I'll take a nap" Kendra closed her eyes and fell asleep dreaming of adventures with her new friends.
Frappe jumped up and growled playfully. "oh, they will come out, once I'm done chasing you!" she lunged towards Cobalt, all four paws gracefully lifted off the ground. Her multicolored body shone in the sunlight, and her smile radiated with joy. Once her paws were back on the ground, she barked and chased after Cobalt, showing the gracefullness that he was lacking. Her tail swished back and forth in the air as she playfully tackled Cobalt onto the ground, her nose only inches away from his. "Oh! um.. hehe..."
Cobalt's tail wagged a couple more times, then slowly stopped as he saw that Frappe's attention was no longer on him. He rolled back onto all fours and bounded over to the lounging border collies, accidentally landing on Dinah, who snapped at him good-naturedly.<br /><br />"I thought you were supposed to be graceful," she growled.<br /><br />"Only in trials," grinned Cobalt. He spun in a circle and crouched with his butt in the air, wagging, trying to get Dinah to play. Dinah snapped at him a couple of times but wouldn't move from her spot, so Cobalt whirled around and lunged at Frappe, bowling her over. "Shake THOSE leaves out," he yipped, and tensed slightly, ready to run if she chased him.<br /><br />"Doesn't take HIM long to get his energy back," Dinah grumbled.
Frappe sighed before she once again tried to think of another lie to cover up her first one. "you see, I managed to shake them off because I knew that we had company and I didn't want to look..ummm..uninviting." She looked down at the ground and nervously pawed the ground, her claws creating little hills of dirt and upturning some bugs who were unfortunately in her way. "Anyways, my master says that she is gonna take a part of the world domination as well, and I'm going to help her, but I can't think of any which way I can. And Dinah, I guess Chip isn't a showoff. You are so lucky to have a guy like him." Frappe gave a small grin and looked at Kendra.
Dinah gave her a blank look. "My boyfriend? You mean Chip? But he doesn't run in trials with dogs that are far below his skill level, does he?"<br /><br />Cobalt, meanwhile, gave a wide doggy grin, his tongue lolling out as his tail thumped with a little more energy. "I haven't paid a lot of attention, actually. My master is always going on about puppies and training and world domination." He shut his eyes and grinned wider-- a doggy version of a hearty laugh, and then rolled onto his back and gave Frappe a playful look. "You ran into a rose bush? Clumsy thing to do. Dinah's pup did that and he was crying for an hour." The bushy tail wagged again, sweeping leaves and twigs across the ground, some of which tangled in the silky silver fur. "But why are there no leaves in your fur?"<br /><br />Dinah sneezed again and moved closer still to Kendra. She lay down nose-to-nose with the other dog and wagged her tail. "Cobalt's silly, isn't he? Acting like a big pup. But he really has no clue she's lying about the rosebush," she confided quietly.
Frappe gave a nervous giggle before looking at Dinah. She muttered under her breath, 'Now i feel like I've blown it'. She mustered her courage and turned back to Cobalt. "well you see, there was this rose bush down the lake and when I went there..I, uh, ran into it...?" She said the last sentence as if it was a question and giggled again. "so um, Cobalt, did you hear about what our kennel owners said about us?" And then turned back to Dinah "your boyfriend is a show off."
Cobalt wagged his tail again and even raised his head from the ground. "Frappe," he greeted, but then his eyes clouded with confusion and he tipped his head to one side. "Why do you smell like roses?"<br /><br />Dinah sneezed in a very suspicious manner-- it almost sounded like a laugh-- and abruptly left her kennel-mate's side to join Kendra. "I'm sure she'll be fine. She's probably just tired; I've seen her out there on the courses and she runs hard to try to beat all those showoffs."<br /><br />Cobalt growled softly at the word "showoffs," and Dinah herself snarled a little in agreement.
Frappe popped up from behind a tree trunk with a rose in her mouth. Her eyes were full of lust and suddenly after seeing Cobalt's face, she felt as if she was turning the charm on too much. She dropped the rose and calmly walked over to Cobalt after her failed and akward attempt to look appealing to Cobalt. "eh, hi there. Rememeber me?" In Frappes mind, the words "say yes, say yes!" were pounding in her head like little drums.
"I'm Kendra" She said with a slow wag of her tail. "Nice to meet you" After saying hello to Cobalt Kendra noticed Sheena. Kendra wanders over and pokes Sheena softly with her nose. "Will she be okay?" Kendra lays down next to Sheena and waits for her to wake up slightly worried by how she passed out earlier.
