We are still evolving Scarlet.. it takes millions of years like I already stated so the changes are very very gradual. There is so much evidence of evolution including the bone structures of whales fins looking practically identical with human hands. There is also evidence that whales used to have legs, its somewhere within their body structure.

I'm not going to debate further with you because your beliefs are solid in your mind and I don't see them changing any time soon. I feel like what I say is sort of ignored. I tend to stay away from debate boards and I think I'll go back to lurking =)

"but in Geneses (Pit-Lover11 said she/he was a Christian), it says that man is put in-charge of animals. Now, how could THAT be, if you were an animal to start off with?"

I don't believe in the bible. And I'll end on that note.
"Woah Scarlet.. you misread me completely. I never said the Torah or Koran mentioned evolution. I just was saying not everyone follows the Bible. Also I asked if you studied evolution- not other religions.

Evolution happens over millions of years. Evolution does not happen in a straight line so there is no 'half monkey/ape' or whatever you had said because evolution happens over such a long period of time. An easy example is to look at how we have dog breeds. How do you think that happened? Selective breeding. Humans took dogs with strong traits and kept breeding them. As a crude example, lets take dogs with long ears. Every litter, the dog with the longest ears is taken and bred with another dog that had the longest ears out of it's own litter. Eventually down the line it will become something entirely different. This is simple proof that animals change over time.

Shoot.. I would say more but I'm being picked up at the moment."

Yes, they can "change" but that is not evolution. You're talking about the SAME species changing. And according to the belief of evolutionists, things HAVE been changing for over millions and MILLIONS of years. I ask you again, if you believe in evolution, you believe that things have been evolving for millions of years; Where's Monkey Man? When did we stop evolving?! And there should be SOMETHING in the process of evolving. Even if you can genetically alter similar species, they don't just stand up and walk on two legs, from all fours. How did they get educated? Not only that, but in Geneses (Pit-Lover11 said she/he was a Christian), it says that man is put in-charge of animals. Now, how could THAT be, if you were an animal to start off with?
Ravette, I too have studied different religions; No where in the Torah, or in the Koran do you find evolution. My question is factual: Where's the evidence for evolution? Also, when did apes stop evolving? Show where apes are still evolving, if you beleive in evolution, then show me a half-man, half-money/ape. Apparently, in the theory of evolution things are supposed to keep evolving.

-----------------------

Woah Scarlet.. you misread me completely. So, if Animal Planet told you to jump off a cliff and make you believe that you could fly, you would?! Do you really believe Animal Planet more than the Bible? Oh, and also, if you do any reading about Darwin, you yourself will find that at the end of his life he was even doubting his own THEORY. A theory is only based on opinions, not facts.

-------------------------

Scarlet, the bible states tons of things that people do not currently do. It says to not mix types of fabric and that women should remain silent. Just because Pit Lover chose to include something she learned on Animal Planet doesn't mean she/he follows it like a blind sheep like you insinuate. I feel that was a little unnecessary.

Also not everyone believes in the bible. There are lots of people that either are not religious at all or follow other teachings and writings such as the Torah and the Koran.

Do you know anything about evolution? I've studied a few religions in different classes I've had and learned about evolution. If you don't learn about evolution, your argument is really invalid as you don't have the facts to support your claims. You have to know both sides of the argument to really be effective. Evolution -is- based on facts.

"In modern science, the term "theory" refers to scientific theories, a well-confirmed type of explanation of nature, made in a way consistent with scientific method, and fulfilling the criteria required by modern science."

The Evolution Theory is backed up by tons of sources, information, and knowledge. People use the term "theory" so loosely that it makes people believe that scientific ones aren't supported by facts. Hypothesis is the term used for one something isn't proven yet and its merely a guess.

I could go into this so much more but I am getting a little busy.

I, Pit-Lover11 believe in God but, I think evolution is real. I think it's real because how come monkeys have thumbs like us? And how come they can walk on two legs? And the earth is very old. It is about 6.5 million years old. (I only know it is that old because on animal planet did a thing about Madagascar and nothing but animals have lived there.) And that is what I believe in.
Firstly, it's not thousands and thousands of years. Try billions.

Secondly, what you're saying is technically true, but I don't think you understand exactly how evolution works. It's not as if one, single cell mutates at a time. Different traits evolve over a very long period of time, and those that don't work die off. The vast majority of mutations never make it past the "trial stage." Many die before they ever reach adulthood, and most die before they ever pass on their genes. So, yes, many of them fail and perish. That's natural selection.

Furthermore, there is plenty of evidence of evolution. Charles Darwin pretty much found as much as was needed in the Galapagos. If you've not read or at least glanced over his research (particularly dealing with the finches), then you really should. The variety of finches found there all share a common ancestor, but they have adapted and evolved to fit different niches.
The thing that causes the major difference between these different species (beak shape/size) is a chemical concoction that affects them while they develop in the egg. It's not a matter of just one cellular difference; it's a chemical change that affects all birds. Some of the birds just get more of one kind of chemical or another, and that changes their development in a specific way. It's not magic; it's science! And as fascinating and amazing as it is, there's no reason it has to be anything other than a natural occurrence.
Just for the record, I was being lazy and not doing proper research, so it's my own fault and stupidity. And since tigers + lions were the first to come to mind, I chose them. xD;; Whether species was a proper name for them or not... forgive me. I can't currently clarify what my actual, specific opinion is, though. >.< It's one of those things that I understand - especially since, well, they ARE my thoughts - but I can't put it into words...

My issue with evolution comes down to the tiny cells - or are they atoms? I'm so sorry, this is where I truly need to start remembering the names for these things. I'll just call them cells... forgive me if I'm wrong. ANYWAYS.

These cells make up every living - and non-living - organism, and are built for very specific purposes. If even a few are missing, or are incorrectly built, an organism can fail to function, and will die. How does evolution take place and manage to build such complex organisms, then? Yet again, even if it is only gradual, there would be such extreme danger; these creatures would develop different diets, behaviors, instincts, and appearances. These cells would have to have evolved out of pure luck on NUMEROUS occasions; creating cells to digest, multiply, create venom, be immune to venom and various bacteria, defense, offense, flight, gills, mobility, respiration, secretion... A different body would mean such careful building of the cells to ensure the creature can survive, and evolving would have resulted in so much dangerous potential brotherline of death or life; if one cell were not properly "evolved," it would all crash. It sounds like there should have been so much trial-and-error of dead, evolved critters; the few that make it might not even have the proper, evolved instinct, behavior, family structure, diet, mobility... to survive.

I simply don't understand how evolution would have managed to create so many complex beings out of pure chance, even if it has occurred the past... what, thousands and thousands of years.
