Creation Vs. Evolution

So which do you believe in? Why? And can you back up your claim? I may poke my nose into this debate later. ^^ NOTE: As the mods have said before, keep this friendly. I really don't like seeing people bashing each other. It's not nice. And it's not polite. Use common sense.

Yes, but men are imperfect. They could have easily written the Bible to their own agenda rather than God's words. Especially if they realized the influence the Bible could bring.

And I hear everyone say there is a reason for everything. What is the reason for letting an entire country live in poverty? And so, God cares more about good grades than starvation by that statement. Why would he randomly answer prayers on good grades, but ignore the desperate pleas of those starving to death, and the children who have to provide for their siblings by the age of eight?
"...I dont understand why God will answer your prayers and you will get an A in your paper but meanwhile people in Africa are starving to death and my friends mum is dieing of cancer. To me, that doesn't make sense, but each to there own. " ~BorderCollieReason

It says in the Bible that God has a reason for everything.

"Because the Bible was technically written by men*." ~PikaDiety

Yes it was, but God gave them the words to write down.
I believe in evolution. There may be a God, although he may not be all we say he is. Personally there is more evidence evolution does exist to ignore it. But that is all my opinion. Maybe God created bacteria? But I do think we evolved. In response to Scruffy, I dont understand why God will answer your prayers and you will get an A in your paper but meanwhile people in Africa are starving to death and my friends mum is dieing of cancer. To me, that doesn't make sense, but each to there own.
I believe that God created everything, and I back this up by this is the way I was raised and I was raised to pray to God often. Often, it seems that God answers my prayers in certain ways, (I ask for an A or high grade on my test, I get an A or A-, even though I didn't study, note that this is just an example and I never really pray to God for such a useless thing, tests. XD ) and I also believe God created evolution. So, I believe both. If God hadn't created evolution(if you only believe in creation, not evolution), how would things ever even work?
I believe in both. I believe God created earth much earlier than we can even imagine, and that he changed thing on the way. I believe he made it possible for everything to evolve, and I believe things have evolved. My guess is I'm probably in the minority with my beliefs, though, lol.
What proof? We, as humans, have evolved in the past few thousand years. Things like racial differences are proof of this. The conditions of a certain environment will prompt the development of certain traits. That is evolution. It is scientific fact.

one source.

Dinosaurs and fossils prove that the Earth is older than stated in the Bible. This too is both fact, and proof of evolution. It is possible to trace evolution through fossils.

I actually feel that Creationism is a very selfish and vain view. In Genesis Chapter 1, God tells Adam and Eve to "fill the earth and subdue it" and "have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."
I don't think human beings are any more important than any other living thing on Earth. I think it is selfish to think that we are. That sort of thinking justifies the atrocities that mankind has inflicted on Earth (the extinction of so many species, for instance).

Creationism was a good explanation for what we didn't understand 6000 years ago, but we know better now. Until I'm given solid proof, I'll continue to believe Creationism, and the Bible in general, is an extremely well written piece of fiction.

All that said, I'm a member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
What proof is there to creationism, other than the Bible? Because the Bible was technically written by men*. And there is much scientific evidence for evolution, especially when it comes to dinosaurs evolving into birds. As time went on, scientists found fossils that were surprising because it showed several dinosaur species starting to grow feathers, and their arms turning into primitive wings. As well, if you compare different aspects of birds to dinosaurs, there are many similarities. If you look at the fetus of a chicken, you see that in the early stages of development, they have tails quite similar to the way a young dinosaur's tail would have developed. And many birds have scaly legs. Take the emu for example: http://www.liveducks.com/diary/ranch/emu1.jpg Those are the feet of an emu. And this is the skeleton of a velociraptor: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3062/2775226998_d057ecc72e.jpg Compare the legs and the talons. Not a perfect match when you look at the entire body, but the feet have similar characteristics. Three toes, with sharp talons. Emus have strong power in their legs, if they wanted to kick you or such ((similar to the ostrich)), and we can assume velociraptors had strong legs as well.

Now, if you were to simply Google "evolution proof", you could find many credited sources with proof to evolution of the species. Domesticated dogs branched off from wild dogs at some point, due to evolution and breeding for specific traits. Almost a human-induced evolution.

And what about the similarities between human DNA and certain primate species DNA? Not simple coincidences. If you look at more advanced primate species, you see they have learned to use tools in similar ways to human beings, using rocks for hammers. Highly intelligent creatures. If you look at some of their behaviors as well, you can see many similarities to human behaviors, especially with gorillas.

I'll add more later if needed. But there's a LOT of proof out there for evolution, and I've never seen any real, solid proof for creationism.

*Not meant to be offensive, just stating a fact. Sorry if it is taken otherwise.
I say creation, by the way.
I still don't get it. What proof is there to evolution?
I believe in evolution personally because it makes more sense and it has more proof to it. I believe humans evolved from other primates, such as bonobos and gorillas. I believe domestic dogs evolved from wolves and other wild animals, and I believe birds evolved from the ancient reptiles, AKA dinosaurs.

It is the more scientifically proven, and I am fairly scientific with things like these. ((Although I do not believe the Big Bang Theory, but that's for another discussion.))

Here's how I operated when I was still Christian, and then agnostic ((and actually still do, but change "God" to "Gods")): Evolution created humanity and the different branches of different animal families, such as canines, with the help of God. I've always believed in evolution because it just makes more sense to me.
